I really spent a lot of time leaning out my system.. always do. My default Win XP mem usage is 62MB..

I installed .net framework which is nessesary to install catalyst drivers.
Memuse went to 75MB. (this is kinda bugging me already)

Then I installed the frekken biggest bloat i have ever seen. Catalyst and mem use went to 180MB!!!

I am building a HTPC and wanted this card for it's VIVO and it was cheap.. but this is crazy I might sell this POS ASAP.

I've noticed something similar aswell...Before there was only 1 CLI.exe running in the Process Menu. Now there's 2 CLI.exe's since Catalyst 5.10. Not sure if this solves your problem, but I've noticed the usage increases...

I checked services and I can't even turn this service off how rediculous is that?!! greyed out!

nV drivers use about 8MB in comparison BTW not to mention they are 100% nicer.

Then sell the POS and stop complaining, if you knew what you were doing you would use the classic layout.

ccc or classic?

CCC 5.11

And to that guy who said something about complaining.. I personally find this an unacceptable amount of resource overhead from a graphics driver maybe you think it's normal but I've never seen dead OS use above 100MB with any driver(s) I've ever installed.. Including nVidia's forceware/nView whole nine yards. And if you were so smart you'd know Radeon X1K series products not supported by CP alone. 😉

Hit Windows key+R and type in msconfig. Then go to the startup tab. Uncheck cli.exe and atiptaxx.exe as you do not need either of them running for the driver to work. Hit apply, and voila! You're problem is fixed!

I'm skeptical that it's actually using as much memory as you say BUT, I would recommend you install the drivers only and then ATI Tray Tools, which does everything that the ATI control panels do and has a tiny footprint.

If you want as little resources used as possible. Like the other said DO NOT use the CCC use either regular CC or just use ATI Tray tools.
