Craig, thats not really a good idea installing new drivers while you have the old one still installed and then remove the old ones.Delete them, first the ATI drivers and then the control panel drivers. You should also download drivercleaner.Just follow the readme or print it out on what to do.You can get it here.Does both ATI and Nvidia cards. Driver Cleaner

I know it's not a good idea but to be honest i didn't care... i didn't want to remove, wait for it to boot again, and re-install the new ones... so i just installed the new ones... and when windows booted i was still on the old drivers, so i removed the old ones through the add/remove programs menu... all is fine now though. if it would have caused problems, a format+re-install is no biggie.. that's why i didn't care.. heh 😛

3.4's bumped my FM up 342 over the 3.2's on my 9700 Pro

My instant messaging windows just 'POP' instantly now!!

Ohhh man, and the emoticons... can we say Eye Candy?!! 😀

i love these drivers!

cant get doom3 to run anymore 🙁... had it running last night like a champ... not today tho...

Has anyone tried these with HL/TFC/CS? With previous drivers I had very unstable FPS, it was pretty much unplayable, so I had to put in my old GF2 MX. If these drivers fix the unstable FPS, I'll put my Radeon back in.

i think i'll hold off until i finish GTA VC.
As long as you delete the gta_vc.set file and enable the frame rate limiter, you will be alright.

I think that the Cat2.4 fix some half-life bugs, dunno which ones off the top of my head, check the fixes list for the drivers for details on what they are.

Unless new problems arose with newer drivers, then I doubt they will fix anything. So far I have tried the 3.1's and 3.2's, both with the same problems.

Just check the list, it might fix the errors that you have. ATI have made a very big effort with these drivers.

Anyone checked if the fullstream makes a difference? The new divx player has support for it.
Is that the video enhancing technology that the Radeon 9700 / Pro has? If so, does it exist also in the Radeon 9600 Pro? (<-- is interested in getting one of the latter, due to cost factors)

Yes video de-blocking technology. 9000 on has it

Played a video clip and cpu usage goes down with it on. Watched the cpu counter while playing a clip. Around 5% with it on and 10% with it off.

Its not actually modding it, like the 9500-9700 hack, it just changes the driver path so that the 9700 gets the extra performance that the 9800 does through that driver path, but i think that ATI included this new driver path for the 9700pro in the new cat3.4

just out of curiosity what are people's experience with the frame limiter turned on. not to sound like a brat but i didn't buy a $300 vid card to play a game at 30fps 😛

Hmm.. wierd results for me.. Got a slightly higher score in 3Dmark01 SE, but my FPS are about 2-5 lower in everything... all the games in 3dmark, quake 3 (used Q-bench), BF1942 and UT2k3. Haven't checked to see if it fixed the bug with HL yet. Other than the slight FPS drop (which isn't even noticable) everything seems the same as with the 3.2's. No problems.

Anyone else get a "Zero Display Service Error" during your installation? Not sure what's up with it, maybe why my FPS are slightly lower in everything. Anyone know what this error is?

If your refering to vice city, then its doesnt make a difference. In fact, it actually smooths out any jerkyness that their might be.

So with these new drivers, my q3 engine games stutter with my new 9800 pro. I understand this is an old driver problem, but does anyone have suggestions on how to fix it? I'm ready to throw this thing back in the box and sell it off. It's worthless to me if I can't play sof2 online.

Whats with the fast writes problem?????? I never had a problem until recently..... Now I see that this is causing problems.... Oh, well, supposedly no performance diff.

I'm trying to uninstall my old driver ATI display driver ... and I keep getting the error message "Error Initializing". Does anybody know how to take care of this????
