ATi Catalyst 3.4 drivers

that link is pointing at the 3.2's. the 3.4's havn't been released today YET. ATI siad they were going to though

I just checked Ati.com and the 3.4's are there. And Tates link works, but he linked to the WinXP version, so make sure you first go to the download page and choose the correct poison for your particular OS.

Where?...at the time of this post I only see 3.2s.

confirm, it is there. Cat3.4

now to see people comparing them.

and how exactly should i install the new Cat 3.4 and the new control panel in a proper way?

 
funny how swamped some of those sites are...driverheaven/rage3d and then i stroll in here and see this link and boom the drivers are mine haha

Cat 3.4's don't play nicely with Doom3. Read up about it here at AnandTech, or over at Hardon or Tom's.

It's my understanding that they used the finished 3.4's in their tests.
 
I think I'll wait a day or so, since ATI's site seems to get awfully slow for a little while right after the release of a new driver suite. 🙂

I don't think people have gotten home to download it yet. I'm getting 124KB/s and it's only 11MB for both files.
 
I installed the Cat3.4, from cat3.1, and here are my results.

My 3dmark2001 score is still 9856.
(it used to be something like 10200 but rage3d tweak messed it up for some reason. Ive even tryed the uninstall/install thing reccommended at the top of the rage3d catalyst forum).

My 3dmark2003 score has gone up, by alot. Used to be 4112, now 4505!!! Sweet.

C&C Generals doesnt seem to stutter as it did with cat3.1, but havnt tested fully yet(only about 2mins).

Havnt checked other stuff yet.

What about you lot, hows it run on your rigs?
 
Yeah, that was easy! I did the D/L at about 80KB/s!

I figured I wouldn't be able to get to these for a day or so with the demand!
 
I haven't benched much of anything yet, my main problem under 3.2 was an occasional DVD decoding problem... looks like it's gone bye-bye. 🙂

Seeing the encouraging reports, I've decided to go ahead and try to get these. Stay tuned for further updates... 🙂

Edit: Getting nice 5 to 7 kbytes/sec speeds on my dialup connection. 😛
 
****IVE FOUND A PROBLEM WITH CAT 3.4****
Seems like i was a little too hopeful before.
Ive just tryed GTA Vice City, and as soon as the windows taskbar dissappears after clicking on the icon, and all the way to the menu, and in game, the screen is completly garbled.

Just so you lot know.
Ive gone back to good old reliable, practically bug free, and reasonably fast Catalyst 3.1
 
I downlopaded em at about 450KB/s, maybe server wasnt full, anyways, i went frtom 3.2 to 3.4, my 3dmark 2001 scores went from 8001, to 7986, but im pretty certain that the problems it fixed will be worth the few scores, but ive never really trusted 3dmark, ill do some benchies on 2003 now, they were 1300 on 3dmark 2003, im running a 9000 pro 128MB.

EDIT: 3dmark 2003 went up by about 90 points
 
They fixed the graphical corruption in Forgotten battles when using 'perfect', I'm a happy man now 😉

I still need to check the rest of my games.
