They seem to charge quite a premium for that form factor. I am a bit disappointed we have yet to see X300/X400 boards out.
Unfortunately that looks to be the case.

I would like to see low cost Thin mITX X400 and MiniSTX boards out.

I wonder if AMD would be better off designing a proper 2c/4t Ryzen based APU instead using defective dies?

But... mask costs? And then where would they put their defective Raven Ridge dies?

Get their Fab partners to improve their FAB processes to reduce the number of defective dies?

My suspicion is that demand for 2C/4T with small iGPU is low.

In fact, even Intel doesn't have a dual core die for Coffee Lake ( Coffee Lake desktop celeron uses the quad core die)

Well something with a larger iGPU, but still at 35W TDP.

Well the IGP is still locked, or at least it seems to be.

At 4Ghz it petty much has the same ST score of a G5400 and beter SMT score.

I doubt that, unless that's a dumping-ground for their salvaged dies, which is a possibility. My other take on that is that they are using the Kaby Lake 2C dies, and re-packaging them as Coffee Lake, just like the i3-8100 is really Kaby Lake, hence the DDR4-2400 memory clock limit.

The Coffee Lake Pentiums are not based on KBL dies.

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-celeron-gemini-lake-pentium-gold,36804.html

The new Coffee Lake (CFL) Pentium models are fabbed on the 14nm++ process, which is a step forward from the 14nm process found on the Kaby Lake (KBL)

And there is no dual core die for Coffee Lake:

OK i went deeper intro this, i can confirm the IGP is still locked and there is no way to overclock it. Even BCLK OC dosent work to increase IGP freq.
I realised that the motherboard was hidding the IGP OC options if a 200GE was installed, so i used AMIBCP to edit the bios so it would still show, but it dosent work. IGP is still locked, cant be overcloked no way around it.

Also were is the guy who said it was able to use 3200mhz ram on the 200GE? There is no way... tested multiples MB but nothing, this looks like a huge NOP to me

that's pretty cool, but it just shows again how unnecessary these restrictions are...

There is any chance that Anandtech staff to look into this? maybe contact AMD and MSI to see what is going on here? Because the CPU clock is definately unlocked on 1.0.0.6 Agesa on MSI boards, BUT at the same time, the IGP and memory clocks are still locked.

How about the Asrock A320-ITX? If you can get it.

The killer feature is that unique for an A320 board it features an i211AT NIC. Which should be perfect for NAS application.

Yep. Check the first of two builds I posted. Seems like a the closest we're going to get to an AM4 "AM1-like" ITX board.

Just wondering, but how well is this APU selling?
Its slowly picking up, we had to ged rid of the G4560 and A8-9600 stock first.

It cost less than G4560 and plays Fortnite/Lol/Dota/CS:GO way better, and most of the time its better than the 9600 for these games, so yeah its gaining popularity.

What is suprising me is that 200GE+RX570 is a thing. I never went that far with the G4560, but most moba games does not use a lot of cores and RX570 allows for good level of details and fps. It was a client that came out with that.

It sounds really silly to pair something like the Rx570 with the 200GE... Are folks playing at 1440p with this setup? That video card is better to pair with the 2600 instead.

Something for a latter upgrade would the Rx560/GTX 1050, which will is more suitable.

But he is right, petty much every non-AAA game, every moba, every Unity game, runs perfectly fine on 2C/4T. And a RX570 allows you to mantain high details at high FPS. For around the same price you can get a 2200G+1050TI/RX560, its more balanced, but the RX570 is just too good by comparison.
And now you can hit 4Ghz rather easily on a 200GE its even more tempting.
AND you can always upgrade later anyway, its not like we are going to see a shortage of new and used AM4 cpus anytime soon.

Just look at this.
200GE at 4Ghz has the same ST score of an G5400 and better MT score.

2 cores is still popular?
Its not about cores its about price, it has been always about price. I cant stop buying dual cores FM2s because people still want them even if we told not to. And i still have no idea from where they come from.

The 200GE its going to be very popular, its like a mix of two very popular CPUs, the G4560 and the A8-9600.

I think 200GE with an overclock is a perfect combo for 570, provided you don't play some CPU heavy games. I'll net you better fps overall than say r3 1200+1050Ti and you can still upgrade it anyway.

Seems there is a thin Mini-ITX board now:
http://www.onda.cn/MotherBoard_Specifications.aspx?id=414
https://www.hwcooling.net/cinska-onda-vyrabi-prvni-thin-mini-itx-desku-pro-amd-ryzen/
(I just wrote that for a .sk site, so beware, shameless plug/selfpromotion - sorry. I found out about the board from @Momomomo_us)

The bad news is that I'm fairly sure this is a mainland/PRC China company that AFAIK doesn't really export or sell in the west at all. At least I never saw anything from them.
Of course, no idea how good the quality and reliabiltiy of their stuff is, but Mini-ITX board for Ryzen with DC power option is really missing from the market.

A broader selection of ITX is missing. Something like cheap A320 or B450 boards are nowhere to be found, just 100$* options.

This is the kicker right now. Without a cheaper and more diverse mITX AM4 ecosystem (they are all decidedly high end except for the A320M Asrock board) I don't see the point of grabbing an 200ge. We might as well pair the current options with a 2200g; this is obvious right?

I still have an itch to keep low budget (I mean low budget <350$) builds on FM2+ w/ Athlon 845's but motherboards and APU's for that socket are increasingly rare. That's just as well because I know it's a bad idea to even go there in 2018 >_<

Do any boards allow for strict TDP/power consumption limit ?
ive seen a test 200ge pull more than 50W. Now normally thats not a problem, but it might be when pairing with a cheap psu.

Some AM4 boards will allow you to put limits on current draw. You can starve the APU for current to lower power draw.

The MAX power conmsuption ive ever seen from the 200GE was 75W (CPU-IGP) for the whole system measured at the wall, thats barely twice of a Sempron 2650, im sure ANY PSU can handle that.

The 200GE is really close to match 2650 idle power.

BTW, the 2200G uses up to 160W under the same conditions.
