DDR4-2666 for both single and dual.
IGP is the bottleneck in every game i tested, and this CPU is locked in every way as possible, cpu/igp and even memory, you cant set memory higher than 2667mhz, it reverts back to 2667.

Think you mislabeled some of your CS:GO data. Also, what's up with the fortnite .1% numbers? Average is higher in dual-channel mode, but .1% is lower?

Kinda makes you wonder if this chip needs an old-fashioned bclk OC on a board that supports it.

Fortnite is a hard game to test, even trought i tried to do exactly the same.

BCLK OC will not do much, it runs at 3200mhz ACT, thats the exact same clock the 1700 runs at, so it should be fine as long as those 4 threads can handle the job.

IGP it is the main bottleneck, best game to test this is Witcher 3, it is so bad that an A6-9500 gets the same fps or better.

What motherboard are you using. Does it have the latest bios?

I build a pc for a client a few days ago with an athlon 200ge and an msi b350 motherboard. Either a tomahawk or pc mate (we use them the most) and i was able to set the memory at 3200mhz through xmp. Did you use the xmp profile or did you set the clocks manually?

bclk OC gets you more iGPU speed and more memory speed, albeit not by much: even if you use chipset I/O you are still only looking at a max bclk OC of 5 MHz or so.

Now that you have that info I wonder how many of your customers will still choose 4GB RAM (ie, single channel) over 8GB RAM (ie, dual channel)?

That dual channel boost is very nice, but DRAM is still relatively expensive and the single channel absolute performance is not bad.

P.S. What motherboard do you think they end up choosing the most for 200GE? A320, B350 or B450? (Is B300 available in DIY channel yet?) Will B450 be popular even for a non-overclocking part because of StoreMI? (EDIT: According to this post B350 can use DDR4 3200 with 200GE via XMP. So that is another reason beyond StoreMI to go B450)

Since this thread is about 200GE as a placeholder what do you think an "initial place holder build" would look like and what direction do you think it would progress?

My guess for the initial build:

200GE APU
4GB DDR4 3000 RAM (re: 4GB DDR4 3000 is only about $2.50 more than 4GB DDR4 2400)
120GB or 240GB SSD (maybe 32GB Optane if Enmotus adds some improvements to the StoreMI software)
B450 motherboard (and why not have 4 DIMM slots like this board if ends up being uATX?)
Linux or Windows 10 (Ideally the Pro version)

(^^^^^ Basically what is known (to me) as a "Browser Box").

would evolve into.......

dCPU replacing 200GE
4GB, 8GB or 12GB DDR4 3000 added to the initial 4GB DDR4 3000 increasing RAM total to 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB, etc.
Some dGPU added (because iGPU is no longer present on CPU).
HDD (of some capacity) added to the 120GB or 240GB SSD via StoreMI.
Windows 10 (Ideally the Pro version). Too bad StoreMI doesn't work with Linux.

(^^^^^^Basically what is known (to me) as a "Workstation")

That makes sense.....only 3CU in the 200GE vs. 6CU in the A6-9500.

P.S. A6-9500 was the first dual core from AMD that had more than 50% of the iGPU enabled.

If I buy it for HTPC, I'll get 320. Could go for 450, but there is low probability for that.

Yeah the IGP fell well short here in my opinion, im looking forward to see bigger igps in 220 and 240GE.

I'm going to have read the reviews again, but the 200GE power consumption seems to be a bit high for a 35 TDP processor from reading them them last time I did.

Mainly from using a full ATX board, and a complete overkill PSU and ditto GPU.

My own Athlon system idles at ~20W, with full load at ~50W. Normal desktop work is 30'ish W.

Something like this I would put on a MiniITX or more likely MiniSTX anyway.

I dont see any chipset so A300 is in fact SOC-Only. I wonder why no OEM attemped to go this route until now, it is strange.

Note that a lot of STX boards had actual big south bridge on the bottom side. If A300 requires some small "mini chipset", maybe it is some small package more akin to a superIO chip?

I also always thought that AM4 processors could work completely without chipset, but as I said earlier, AMD reps said that X300/A300 are in fact some small chip that still "does something that PCs need". Of course it could have been some mistake. WHo knows, maybe when they said that, they were actually talking about SuperIO itself :)

P.S.
Those japanese tweets iirc say something about the board entering testing phase. So it will likely be a few months before it goes to market.

Well it IS strange that no oem decided to go A300, i would have expected brands like Biostar, ECS and Asrock to jump on the A300 wagon right from the begining.

Maybe it needs a chip but AMD reserve them for notebooks or not provide them at all and it needs to be OEM developed.

Has anyone look closer into what all those Zotac box with ryzens?

And it is true, MSI dosent seem to care about AMD "blocked cpus", the "game mode" changes multiplier to x34.5 on top of that you can use 103 fsb (max, since this board dosent have a external clock gen)
