Start date: 9/30/10 (I'm American so that's Sept 30)
End date: 11/30/10 (Nov 30)

You can post as many entries as you want, but all entries must be submitted by 11/30/10.

Koing will modify this thread as he sees fit.

Event: Bench Press 1RM

Rules:
-Bar must start from fully locked out position.
-Bar must touch chest.
-If the bar BOUNCES off of the sternum, the rep does not count. A light touch is required, but a pause is not. This isn't a powerlifting comp.
-Full lockout is required at the top of the bench press.
-There is no set grip or width - just get the bar from lockout to your chest gently, then back to lockout.

Scoring:
1) In your weight class below we'll have positions for all competitors with a maximum of 25points for the top lifter, decreasing by 1 point for each competitor.
2) The % over bodyweight - maximum of 25 points for the top lifter decreasing by 1 point for each competitor.

Weight classes: (kg : lbs)
58 : 127.6
62 : 136.4
69 : 151.8
77 : 169.4
85 : 187
94 : 206.8
105 : 231
105+ : 231+

Weigh yourself on the day of the event if possible and we'll use an honor system to believe what you weighed in at, so you don't fudge people.

If the results are not in the following format, they will not be posted so please take heed and follow the directions.

e.g

Name: Koing
Bw: 90kg : 198lbs
Result: 30kg : 66lbs
Class: 94kg : 206.8lbs
%ofBody : 33.3% (30/90)

Please post videos if you can. There's nothing worse than hitting a huge lift, posting it on the forums, and having 4 guys call e-stats on you. Take away all doubt - post that video and take pride. Good luck, gentlemen (and perhaps gentle women).

Wanna push back that end date a week...I'm doing a bench meet on December 7....

Nahh, nevermind. That will be a USAPL pause, I can do better with this competition's rules :)

Yeah, you can do it early to get a general idea of your strength before you taper a bit. I'm sure you're gonna slay everybody else at our body weight anyhow, lol.

Maxed out today before the competition and I'll just use this as my entry as I probably won't get as much in competition with a pause. Unfortunately no video, as I forgot about this competition until just now.

Name: KoolDrew
BW: 208lbs
Result: 335lbs
Class: 105kg : 231lbs
%ofBody : 161%

Very nice. Way to open the competition up strong.

Yeah, the first (and only) bench competition I entered was also the first time I'd learned about the required pause. I'd also cut something like 10 lbs. in the two weeks leading up to the event, which didn't help. I was quite surprised I still hit 315 lbs. @ a bw of 165 lbs.

Will see if I can do better than that next week on bench day.

Are we able to calculate 1RM based on our 5RMs? Or rather the weight used on 3x5. If yes, what would be an acceptable formula for that?

boy I used to be king of the bench press back in the day, I use less weight nowadays and higher reps, mainly because I do this at home and have no spotter

No, the lift has to be a valid 1RM performance. People can frequently milk more out of a lift with a 1RM if they have the intensity. Post a video if you decide to participate :) We haven't had enough videos in the past threads.

I would if my camcorder hadn't gotten stolen :(

I have rarely seen anyone post up a video...I'm pretty sure I've posted a video in all comps I've taken part in.

I'll have to give this a miss as I can't bench press. It hurts my shoulder soooooooooooooo much it's ridiculous. I can do push ups, dips, weighted push ups and dips but no bench press. It just cains my right shoulder.

I post vids...

You should just do the bar or something, at least get an entry in!

Thanks.

My goal is 300 in the meet in December...not quite there yet, especially since that will be paused...

You, the other dude who is f0cking strong posts videos also!

I'll get my entry in considering I've taken the rest of the year off doing any OLifts and squats to rest it up.

I'm pretty f0cking good at push ups. Been doing weighed with 30kg on my back for sets of 15's on DB so I can do real deep.

I can see daylight under Deeko's butt on his 295.
Not complaining - just calling it the way it is...

That's on the upper part of his hamstring before it meets the gluteal fold. It's hard to tell if his ass actually comes up off the bench. Since he's been a good competitor and posted videos for most competitions, I'll give it to him. If there was daylight under his glutes, then we'd have to question it.

Eric62 clearly underestimates the size of my ass ;)

Anyways, its definitely closer than I'd like, I pointed out in this entry in my training log that my ass was just barely scraping and that I should alter my feet positioning to make it a bit more firm. Its hard to see in the vid (best view is at 21 seconds - while there is light under the hamstring, just to the left of it you can see the darkness of my shorts hitting the bench, not the white of the wall), but I promise it was touching.

Deeko your word is more than enough for me.

In the OP head, glute, foot placement/movement isn't specified, nor is equipment limitations or requirements i.e. belt/wraps/shirt/sleeves ect.

Today I did a paltry 355 at a body weight of 301 with belt/wrist wraps and IPF technique standards without a hand off.
I'm NOT competitive in this contest at this time...
