I got the urge to play again after i read about the changes in WoD so i preordered and boosted a character to level 90, been queueing for randoms this past week but i'm still fairly new to all this, haven't played a max level character since WoTLK and that was a very short affair

That's pretty neat. When I saw his daughter's name when reading some of the stories it's hard to figure it came from any other place

You are relearning the game now and you will be relearning it again when wod comes out.

I haven't been on live since the beta started, I dont even want to log on live while the beta is running.

Fixed.

6.0 will introduce everything regarding class (skills/talents/etc), equipment changes (stat squish/new secondaries/etc), and raid changes which should go live pretty soon.

We have about 2 hours to learn what "soon" really is.
Did they announce something coming in 2 hours?

edit: just checked...

Given the state of the beta ptr......that would be beyond the "dreaming" stage.

Draenor post blizzcon, Nov 13.

Called it.

Means 6.0 probably shows up around 10/20.

They're probably doing a thursday release to have some space between the con and release.

the new pvp zone sounds like it will be crazy! looting players for pvp currency?!?! woah.
and the 'super-abilities' sound OP as hell, but super fun. i suck at pvp though, not sure how much i will go there.

the new zones look really awesome. and that dungeon on the train?!?! cray-cray! lol

Same thing is probably gonna happen to me again. I'm going to buy the expansion, get a max level toon, do maybe a few raids, get bored, unsubscribe, and resub at the final raid of the expansion.

I'm gonna go with 10/14, 10/7 but I think you're pretty close. Release 6.0, fix immediate release bugs, go to blizzcom, release WoD.

With Blizzcon 11/7, they will be setting up the week prior. They will want at least 2 weeks minimum to fix any post-6.0 bugs.

cool cinematic, but it seemed like it would have gone over peoples heads unless they know the lore from at least warcraft 3.

Plus, they didn't say names, so I could see a lot of people being confused with Grom since they just called him Hellscream in the cinematic, I can see many people assuming that was Garrosh.

Then a couple of questions, is this going to end up "rebooting" everything since they just changed major storylines? For instance, if Grom lives, then the events leading to Garrosh heading the horde obviously would not have happened. Then if mannoroth never goes to Azoroth since he is dead, that changes a lot as well.

I can't see how they keep current story lines, but then this isn't a reboot either so I don't know what is going on.

I was thinking 10/14, but not sure they want 6.0 sitting out that long with (half a week added from thursday vice tuesday release) so picked 10/21.

I think they're going with a multiverse theory, and as such, this whole expansion is based on an alternate reality

It's either that, or at the end of the xpack they "undo" everything that happened, ie: you kill the end boss and it fixes the "real" universe. Because: wizards.

Actually, because there's no way in hell they are re-writting all the quests around these events.

So where or when do they explain what happens after mop for garrash to escape and how he time travels? I have just played and haven't gone to read the lore, but where is that info and how does blizzard release it? Patch 6.0?

and to meet that release date.....looks like they're delaying entire zones:

Tanaan Jungle and possibly Farahlon will be in future content patches, not at launch.

Also seems the toy/transmog UI hasn't progressed nearly as far as we thought (why they were announced as delayed a while back) and they are still thinking about how to implement:

A transmogrification system revamp could be part of Patch 6.1 or 6.2, allowing you to build a collection of transmog items rather than storing them in your bank or Void Storage. It also may include tools to better manage multiple transmog sets.

And be ready to walk for just a weeeee bit longer:

The length of time beyond Patch 6.1 that you are unable to fly in Draenor will be decided upon by the community as a whole. If players enjoy it then it could last longer. If players overwhelming want flight back by Patch 6.1, then they will most likely get it.

Did you like Hellscream as the expnasion boss? Cause you get to do it again!

Grommash

Just saw this, final boss of WOD, putting in spoiler tags in case some of you don't want to know
Grommish Hellscream, I don't like having a near repeat in end bosses for back to back expansions. Seems cheap if it turns out to be true.

Go to minute 11 and start watching for the confirmation.

I haven't played WoW since WotLK, so it's been about 3-4 years, however I still keep up with the expansion story/lore/content as much as I can.

All I can say is that after watching the cinematic for WoD, I am so tempted to jump back in. I absolutely have no time to play this game, but damn was that cinematic awesome.

They made a couple of comments at blizzcon, pretty sure the general feel with how they did it had people not taking them as serious statements.

As far as the story with how we'll be getting there, they're pretty much giving that a wide berth. We'll be there when we're there, but it won't have any effect on the rest of the universe except for what happens to characters from the prime universe while they're there. People have asked if changes there carry forward, is this a simultaneous but different existence, etc... They're sticking with "that's not the story we want to tell" and "This isn't an expansion about time travel", so that talk has been minimal at all. Maybe we get more at the con, but don't it.

For the cinematic, so far I've still held the first as my favorite, lot of action and all the elements of the game showcased. And while it was the best expansion, the Wrath video probably my lest favorite. With the graphics in the Draenor one being so improved over previous versions, it's hard to say that's not now my favorite.

I had this conversation with guildies who were all excited about the xpack. It basically went down like this.

me: so this new xpack is a different time line huh?
them: yeah, it's a parallel alternate timeline.
me: so with them going so far back, do you guys think the changes will impact the stories in the "real" timeline?
them: no, there's no way they will change all the history because of this. it's parallel and alternate! We're doing things in an old timeline.
me: OK, so that basically means nothing in the next xpack will affect anything in the previous or following xpacks making WoD kind of pointless huh?
them: ....fuck

I wish they would ban flight completely except in situations where flight is required to complete a quest. I was an early advocate of flying but in the years since being implemented I hate that most content has become fly-over country, where players will zoom from quest giver to quest target and back. I completely understand how so many people feel the game is stale when flying has reduced questing to a get quest-fly over-kill mob-fly back.

Once upon a time you had to travel "through" content to get to other content, perhaps placing yourself in jeopardy in the process. For me, PVP was much better when everyone was on the same plane. Death from above took griefing to a higher level.

Now, before someone says that no one is forcing me to fly...I agree. And for the most part I actually completely avoid it, even with my 90s. Still, seeing others bounce from ore vein to ore vein, scanning and clearing entire zones in a fraction of the time it used to take...

Blizzard did a lot of great things over the years. They've streamlined and optimized and came up with nifty, quick ways of doing all sorts of things. They deserve kudos for that. Now it's time to reevaluate and remove some of those features that, while convenient, don't provide a tangible benefit to the actual game experience. Back to basics.

We need less phasing, less flying, more lore, and a more linear leveling power curve (not XP, ability). Level 62 should be some measurably more powerful than level 59, but not astronomically so. I should not be able to solo the first boss of a Cata dungeon with a 90 that isn't even geared for raiding. Heirlooms need to be banished. All level 1 races should be able to level in other same faction race territories. The fact that I have to replay the same phased story for more recent races is a huge problem.

Anyways, that's my 0.02.
