@Xonim Mage nuggets, tracks a bunch of other stuff. Every mage should have it. Also, I wanted to clarify we killed 5, spawning the 6th not killed 6. I even forgot to spec into pom for the fight, if you do, you'll have no issue on a crit drought.

Isle of Quel'das was glorious imo. The perfect mix of zone size, dailies, pvp and a safe spot with guards who killed anyone who was flagged. That last part is key, simply having a safe zone ala molten front was ultimate cheese.

So fire was pretty bad in MSV 10 =/

Tonight's Fire Log
Sunday's Arcane / Scorch Weaving Log

Stone Guard: 94.5 Arcane, 108.6 Fire (+14k for fire)
Feng: 106.6 Arcane, 82.6 Fire (-24k for fire)
Garajal: 101.6 Arcane, 82.8 Fire (-19k for fire)
Spirit Kings: 91.9 Arcane, 61.9 Fire (-30k for fire)
Elegon: 142.2 Arcane, 134.4 Fire (-8k for fire)
Will of the Emperor: 75.2 Arcane, 61 Fire (-14k for fire)

Reported our Will kill as a wipe for some reason, not sure why. In my 10 man, was #1 / 1 / 5 / 5 / 2 / 4 for those fights, which looks like fire would be in line with everything, sorta. Our hunter wasn't there, he would have been #1 on fights 2-6, he was replaced by the DK dps.

That was a full respec / reforge / regem and everything. Bleh.

Right but all those number were -well- over what was needed for kills. That's your farm content... I suspect you screwed up on spirit kings a bit. Surprised elegon was less than 10%, that fight screams arcane.

Looks like soon you'll be able to level up easier via BGs, blizz making it so everyone in the bg will have stats and level scaled to the max level of the bg bracket.

Question, even with your "lower" fire dps, yet ranked 5 outta 5/6 dps in your group, why are you not able to clear all normal content? Is it (still) the healers?

Secondly, yes fire still isn't as good as arcane, yet the mage we brought last week did arcane, this week did frost and was doing 12-14k better dps as frost. So I am sure playstyle breaks down on it.

Arcane was not far from Fire prior to nerf, but since so many mages were fire, I do not think blizzard had adequet data on arcane mages. Hence the scortch mana increase in 5.2 to "fix" that.

On a side note, after turning in the 6,000 valor point quest, 2 more quests were given.

1) Kill the 120mil hp horde guy by the new dailies. (requires 10+ ppl)
2) Win 2 BGs (mines and temple)

Let me tell you... #2. A PvE healing monk, which sucks in pvp right now, with 0 resil, and done 0 BGs/PvP as monk, made those BGs a horrible horrible time. Eventually I found a high geared frost mage and just followed him/healbotted him.

Also officially group is now 16/16N and 2/16H (with a heroic gara'laj kill in MSV). Working on heroic elegon tonight.

To be honest bgs are whatever. When I was doing a long strange trip there were tons of pvp achieves. Just gotta suck it up and keep queuing the other side has to suck more at some point. Finally got my 500 strength gem. Onto 6k VP. Grrr

Oh yea, but when it took 5 tries at temple, each game about 10 minutes. It is just annoying a class I have 0 plans to use in PvP, forced me into PvP via PvE quest.

It's a lot of things really. We had to replace our rogue (with another rogue, was actually a smooth transition with minimal dps loss). Sunday was the first day since before Christmas where we had everyone in attendance. There's been 2 nights since we "came back from the holidays" that we couldn't fill the group so we wasted an hour trying to find someone and never did.

Found out last night that one of our tanks doesn't want to tank anymore and our monk healer wants to tank and that would mean the paladin we've been gearing as ret (though she's gotten the 2-3 piece of holy gear that's actually dropped) would need to go back to healing, then we'd have two healers that can't heal on the move.

We've got me and our other tank that want to push progression and actually run our raids til the end time. We quit last night 70 minutes or so before our official end time, so rather than doing protectors, then getting 2/6 HoF so we could start Garalon on Sunday, we just called it after MSV and are starting Sunday with protectors.

TLDR: My raid has problems.

Secondly, yes fire still isn't as good as arcane, yet the mage we brought last week did arcane, this week did frost and was doing 12-14k better dps as frost. So I am sure playstyle breaks down on it.

If his frost beat arcane, unless it was a cleave fight, he's playing arcane wrong.

I'm going to make an admission though. After playing scorch weaving for a few weeks / a month, fire feels clunky. It feels really really clunky. Scorch weaving arcane was seamless, you're always casting stuff with faster cast times, aside from RoP, it is a very smooth spec to play. Fire isn't that way -- stuff like waiting on the GCD after fireblast, timing the combustion just right after a big ignite, etc ... and having to cast invocation cancels out my RoP gripe with arcane, so....yeah. I'm kinda surprised I feel this way, but it is what it is.

Right but all those number were -well- over what was needed for kills. That's your farm content... I suspect you screwed up on spirit kings a bit. Surprised elegon was less than 10%, that fight screams arcane.

Spirit kings was just a lot of non-crit situations. I know I messed up my combustion usage not once but twice when trying to line up an alter time combo, misclicked combustion when I meant to hit AT. But that still wouldn't have been *that* much of an increase. I'm just attributing that one to RNG.

Elegon I'm convinced after last night that I could've matched and/or possibly beaten my arcane dps. Even with mage nuggets I was terrible at keeping up the invocation buff on the orb / pillar phases. We also had lower overall raid dps this week, so we ended up with an extra add before the first orb phase and I think two extras before the 2nd. I may spec into RoP for this fight, as I think I have an easier time keeping that one up on Elegon.

Wow, yea not wanting to randomly tank/heal anymore randomly sucks. Luckily since there are a few fights where only 1 tank is genuienly needed, our tanks take turns being dps, thus not always tanking.

Who is your other healer not on the move? Outside of paladin i cannot think of a healer that cannot heal well on the move. (Would this mean double paladin?)

Yea sounds like lots of problems. Biggest problem my group had to overcome was a replacement tank and range dps from our prot paladin and warlock that left us over xmas. Luckily we picked up a good DK tank, and the mage is working out alright.

However tuesday when we did 4/4 toes and 5/6 HoF farm content our paladin healer was stuck at work and pugged a 2nd disc priest. Me + 2 disc priests healing (on fights that usually have 3 healers) let me tell you...

I afked some of those fights because no one was taking sufficient damage for me to even waste mana to heal... damn OP disc priests...

No, this would mean paladin + tree. I'm as confused as you are right now =P

Hah I can definitely see that.

I actually swapped my priest from disc to holy a few days ago. Disc is kinda meh for LFR. I mean, the meters looked excellent, but I didn't feel like I was doing anything because people's bars weren't moving when I was healing b/c of spirit shell, and it was just kinda weird.

Once I'm geared through all LFR content I'll probably go back to disc in case I can fill in a 10 man, but for LFR I'm doing well enough as holy. Did HoF part 2 last night, got put in a 1/3 raid, going to probably requeue tonight for wind lord. Got the sha-touched mace off the last guy, and I already had the OH from MSV, so that's good. Still don't have my sha gem, at 8 wisdoms + 2 powers.

Also don't have any coins because I still haven't done dailies, so even though I have weapon / OH / ring from 2+ weeks of all LFRs, my best other gear is still 476 crafted engi goggles / tailor chest/gloves, and the DMF trinket. Also still in 2-3 pieces of +hit shadow gear in my heal set, because I don't wanna run heroics anymore...

Tree is the most movable healer... lol.

Oh yea I know what you mean by health bars moving. Normally elite protectors with warrior last up, peoples bars are jumping up and down a bit. Come 2 disc priests they didn't move. I sat there for like 30s daydreaming and plotting of SOMETHING I could do to be beneficial to the raid.

assuming 5.2 doesn't arrive in the next 2-3 weeks and I hit the valor cap... what do you think is a better VP dump -- upgrading an existing 476/483 trinket, or replacing a 483 ring with a 496 ring?

alternatively, I've also got the 476 BoA staff that's upgradable, but who knows when/if I'll ever get one of my casters to level 90.

this is on a character with only access to LFR gear.

Upgrade the darkmoon trinket if you have one, just because you won't be able to in 5.2, otherwise the 496 gear. Be aware that mmo champ just posted that VP costs will be reduced for current vendors in 5.2.

5.0 gear (489 ilevel) will cost 50% less VP
5.1 gear (496 ilevel) will cost 25% less VP

in 5.2

Priority should be to upgrade tier pieces. If you've got that covered, get the 496 ring.

Right now, I've been sitting at valor cap for weeks. Had to upgrade my DMF as well as a cloak because nothing good drops for me that is desirable to upgrade.

I wouldn't worry about 5.2 coming in in the next 2-3 weeks. 2-3 months is more the timetable we're looking at (or 3-4)

It will be late february, early march.

The PTR is almost completed on note/changes except for minor ones and bug fixes. All that is left is some interval 5.2 boss testing. Which will take 2-3 weeks. Then final notes. so 5ish weeks.

Now 3/16H, killed Heroic elegon last night.

Was not a "fun" fight, with the singular awareness being so important. However on the kill. Last 5% we only had both tanks alive, and they were able to finish him off.

A good week. 3 new kills, and all farm content done in 7.25 hours.

Revered with the Golden Lotus. Finally, haven't been focusing on it because I've been doing Landfall dailies but glad it's finally over.

They stated that they would introduce 5.2 if it seems like people are getting bored (quitting or cancelling). If they introduce 5.2 in 3-5 weeks, that speaks volumes about how many people are frustrated with the game.

Thankfully, it seems they are taking the right steps to making the game fun. Valor gear is now tied to raid rep(I believe) and PvP in 5.2 is going to be about skill, not gear. Now if they can only do something about the botting issue.

Forgive the dumb question, but I haven't played in over six months; if I was to get a scroll of resurrection, what would that give me? Would I be able to level past 85? Or would I still be limited to Cata?

Long Time lurker... finally made an account.

I just started playing again a couple months ago after a long hiatus. I play a mage on a low pop server. Active guild, but cannot raid because we cannot find a FT tank or enough healers, so LFR gear is the best I am likely to get.

Here's my toon: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/archimonde/Ebon/simple

Would appreciate advice on what to upgrade next, how I'm geared, etc. There are a lot of mages on my server, but I find that I'm better geared than most of them, and most are arcane as well.

My thought was to either upgrade my legs/gloves (496) or my Shock-ChHrger Medallion (496)...

Regarding Spec - I have been playing off and on since vanilla. I've done it all. I was bummed about the Fire nerf, but have grown to love Frost for the control and the OMFG multi-target DPS (frost bomb!) as well as the complete disregard for mana management. I have absolutely zero interest in playing arcane. I really dislike that spec.

Also, I have a bunch of alternative gear - lots of 483 and 476 stuff, but I am stubbornly sticking with my 4 set Tier bonuses (I don't even know what Tier level we're up to now... 15? 16?). I'm not sure if the 50% icy veins CD is really worth it - I geared this way for the 20% faster combustion CD, which I expected to be DPS god mode - but didn't get it until days after the nerf.

Thanks for any advice.
