Sup all.. I was wondering at what level someone can be called insane or something like that... because mental illnesses are so complex that some people can still function normally with the illness... others need therapy, there is some that are one way or another unable to behave correctly... (physical, mentally, emotionally, socially.. something is mess but only that and the rest is fine or not so fine) and the last ones are total screw ups that you need to put them on a cage for safety...

at what level you can called someone insane????

The DSM is the basis the psychiatric world uses to diagnose mental disorders. Insane is a very, very vague term. Is someone with controlled schizophrenia and on meds for it considered crazy? Not really. Those terms really aren't clinically used for a reason.

Why are you asking?

I believe if you can question your own sanity - then you are sane.
If you think you're the "normal" one, and everybody else is bat shit crazy, then schizophrenia might be a personal issue.

Just my observations. Nothing scientific...

Another observation: I live in Vegas, and if you can wear 3 layers of jackets in 110 degree weather and not feel hot (not uncommon here - we have a huge population of roaming homeless mentally ill) you are bat shit crazy!!!
