gf will have her PhD in around 27 months time.

I'm going to 2nd year CS in September.

Spend the time and do it. If you enjoy it go for it. I know I love designing things. May do a Masters in something design orientated as I think I have a flair for style. Did Design Technology for a GCSE got an A* in it.

A degree is better then no degree. You can spend 6 years of chilling and studying before you go full time in to the work force! Enjoy it. I know I will as the prospect of working full time doesn't appeal to me yet......
