change your ip address to 192.168.100.10
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

then goto http://192.168.100.1

that should show a complte diagnostic readout and any errors it's encountering.

you don't need to change your ip to do this just go to http://192.168.100.1 in your browser and that will get you into the modems configuration screens

I call them they have no idea what is wrong with it, They say we will send a tech out on thursday :( I cant live without the net (On 56k) not to mention I just got my 2.0ghz dell today & am using 56k :( ok I have a Motorola SB4100 it goes to recieve blinks a couple of times & goes back to send. I took out the cable line put it in my tv works perfect. What is wrong? I dont know but I might kill my self before thursday so please help.

Ignore these people. Call AT&T. You got the lights in the wrong order (receive, then send, then online), but you have no upstream signal if send flashes a few times, then goes back to recv. Nothing you do to the software is going to do anything about no upstream on the modem.

Your cable modem is cycling itself. There's nothing you can do about it. There's also nothing anyone here can do about it. Honestly, you think someone here would be able to do more than the tech on the phone who's been trained to specifically support the ATTBI network??

Just wait for the tech.

I've been busy setting up my own forum and dealing with the travesties of life. I'm going through quite a stressful point in my life and didn't really have the time to hit AT. But still... I hate it when I tell a customer that a technician needs to go out to the house or that we don't support something and they ask to be transfered to another technician who can fix it or who does support it. :| Ya don't get it: if a tech can't fix it over the phone, then ya need a tech. Period. Most likely it's the modem not regulating it's power flow and using too strong/weak of a signal out to make the connection, or it's the modem getting too strong/weak of a signal in the first place. Can you fix that?

...yeah, I didn't think so.

nik (feels better now)

Wasn't talking to you, man. Was directed at Chilboy. :)

Seriously, if the cable modem doesn't have a connection, there's nothing you can do on the computer to make it happen. It's like giving the car more gas trying to get the bridge to lower after the tug went under. They're totally unrelated. You have to wait for the modem to connect before you can do anything on the computer to make a difference. And, in this case, if power cycling the modem doesn't work (assuming you've checked physical connections), the only thing left to do is have a tech out to check signal strength, etc.

The cool thing is that all that information ^ is color coded. I wish I could show the actual tool. It looks awesome.

opps.. i was just messing with you anyways.. :)

oh no chiboy, ffmcolbalt knows where you live now, better watch your back.. j/k . that program sounds pretty cool.

hope you get that stuff fixed up on your site... dixiesys could probably make it alittle more clear when they say "we're going to move you from server x to server x" whether or not that includes moving the data as well. from what i read in the forums regarding the move from server 5 (that was failing) to server 12/14, it sounded like customers had to move the data over themselves.

The joys of having a router capable of spooifing it's MAC :)

Here's my trouble ticket notes:
me: Myself, and four others (each on different ISPs with different subnets entirely) have been seeing gross timeouts and trace route request timeouts today. I just installed phpBB and phpMyAdmin and all was well until things got slower and slower, then sped up, then got slower again until things died out.

None of us (and anyone else who I ask) can get to my site, period. Some of them, sometimes, can't even resolve a ping to the site.

Can I get moved from Server6 to Server12 or Server14 or something please??

Thanks,
Nik

Mike: Mike changed status to Hold
You have a new account on www14. All Set! email should be arriving soon. When you are moved, notify me by replying to this ticket so we can delete the old account. (Don't forget to set domain registrar's nameservers to those in the All Set! email.)

-Mike

---

me: You mean... I have to move my own files!?

---

Mike: Yes, you do.

-Mike

---

me: Rediculous. Remove my request to change servers then. I refuse to move 200MB over dialup.

doh! that sucks. i was just thinking if ya really still want to move, i'd help you transfer them over.

all you'd have to do is zip your current daily_backup files with a password, create a web user, move those files you want to move over to the webuser dir. since the webuser can only access that webuser folder, no worries. create another webuser account on server14, and repeat in reverse order. and ill move them if ya want. im on attbi cable. not super fast, but it's decent.

Well... we'll see. If they transfer the files themselves, great. If they close the connection, I'll just deal with it. I'm quite dissatisfied with Dixiesys.
