Thanks CuriousMike! I've played around with a lot of pretty interesting programs like RawTherapee and PhotoScape, but ultimately ended up doing most of my editing with Lightroom. I often make heavy use of "clarity" and "vibrance", but also the shadows, lights/darks/whites/blacks depending on the particular image. Sometimes it's rather excessive editing, which you really see if you are a pixel-peeper.
To speak specifically to the colors, I think most of that can be attributed to the " vibrance" feature. It isn't totally unlike saturation, but IMO does a nicer job of it. Pull the slider too far and you get an image that just looks fake and really bad. I'm glad to see the positive reaction to mine :-D
Took these today after my night shift (7am). It's so surreal to see the sun being up at that time. It pretty much starts to come out around 4am at this time of year.
Pretty much straight from camera, maybe some minor adjustment to exposure that's about it.
Me? A NOC for the local phone company. It's in town, but I saw smoke so out of curiosity I went home to get my camera and tried to find the source of the smoke then ended up just stopping by to take pics of the river instead.
Going to try to get the fireworks tonight, though I wont actually go on site where they are, I work tomorrow so don't really want to deal with traffic afterwards.
Some fireworks shots, I was far as I was not really planing on going given I work tomorrow but ended up staying up anyway. It's actually harder than it looks to get a proper focus on stuff at night, but they turned out not too bad. I was using remote to open/close shutter so experimented with short and long exposures as well as different aperture settings.
Did a few shots from far too just for different perspective.
After it was over I decided to do a very long exposure of the night sky, turned out pretty cool, probably the best pic out of everything I took.
Also just realized my app (raw studio) seems to add jpeg compression. I'll have to check into that.
