Really nice light/colors/texture feel to that photo.

ISO 3200, RAW, 1/320, 400mm, f/6.3 with my Vivitar Series 1 100-400mm. I think I left the noise reduction settings at their default in Lightroom. I'm happy with the low light performance from my A35. But I don't get why that picture is sharp, but other pictures at 400mm are so soft that they're unusable. The old Vivitar might have some focusing issues.

No, that's what I set it to. The actual lighting is not anywhere near flattering. The bottles were near dark.

It's a juvenile red tailed hawk, 2 blocks from where I live, in a tree over Cross Island Parkway in Queens/Long Island border.

Here: spreading his wings:

Nice shot of that falcon. Would love to see one of him in flight. Where was this?

I just returned from traveling for the last few weeks and have just gotten started processing some of the photos.

I had a great couple of days in Brussels, even though it rained much of the time. I was trying to find a photo to start with that felt a bit like a post-card of a European vacation. I wanted it to focus on the place and the "feel" without being too much about any individual street or person in the shot. I have a few nice "intimate" shots with faces or people, but I wanted one that was both warm and anonymous.

I decided to go a bit more post-card like than I usually am comfortable with, but I like the result.

This is what I came up with. Thoughts?

nice scene and interesting pastellizing? of the people, but I do kind of wonder why the people are blurred.

It's an HDR shot, probably at least 3 frames which when stitched together you end up with blurred people because they aren't going to be perfectly still.

I love the colors of this shot and the composition, but the blurry people really are a distraction to me.

I think the contrast is really compressed in that scene, and has just been "tone enhanced". could be just 1 shot on an over cast day... from what it seems. You'll be able to capture a crap load of dynamic range on a cloudy day...

SSSnail, i like the color on these... it has that warm, relaxing, yet upscale look.

what setting/adjustments did you use to achieve that effect?
F 5.6, 1/8, ISO 3200, +0.3 EV, 63mm, magenta/green comp G4, on the bottles.

F 8.0, 1/13, ISO 800, +0.3 EV, 33mm, magenta/green comp G4, on the lobby.

The sunset one is just F 5.0, 1/800, ISO 200, 75mm. That turned out a bit brighter so I darkened it a bit. I think 1/1000 would have been perfect straight out of the camera.

Edit: a tribute to the Endless Summer

Yes, it's a 5-shot (-1.33 to +1.33) HDR.

I've cleaned it up, toned it down and put the people back to being people.

Better?

Weekday afternoon in Brussels, Belgium

My boys just ordered Ubisofts "Battletag" - I often wondered what happened to it after seeing the preview a couple years ago.
Evidently, it flopped -- likely due to it's extreme ($300) price tag.
Now it can be found new for ~$100 (but not from ubi), and it's a pretty sweet experience.
