Hey balloon, not bad!

love it, got a great feel to it 😀

Couple recent pics:

Taken with 35mm lens (cat I can't recall 100% but pretty sure it was the 35mm too) I like the blur effect I can get with that lens due to the low F stop.

hehe, i wanted to get a nice wide shot straight on facing the church, and right as i'm getting ready to do that they shut off the blue lights 🙁 🙁 haha .. too lazy to bike back over there tonight

the trick at night is to find a spot to put the camera down and take your time to fiddle with everything till you get what you want. this is why i love biking around at night when it's cold out in the spring, nobody is around! trying to rush a hand held shot at 1/4 - 1/6 sec @ ISO 1600+ vs setting the camera down, shooting at ISO 100 and being able expose however you need/want... 🙂

capturing a great shot of something in motion , now that takes some skill!

Big dipper at 4am. Can tell the sun is starting to come up, quite surreal to see that in middle of the night like that. Only lasts for a few months.

nice job on the dipper. i still haven't had a chance to shoot some stars, which is one of the big reasons i was excited to buy my tokina 11-16! hopefully make time this summer to get away from the city and try that out.

tonight i just rode along the edge of the island till i found an interesting spot that i hadn't seen yet.

Just got a Nikon Coolpix A delivered today, pretty cool little camera.
They've been blowing those out for awhile - I keep thinking "I'm gonna get one".
I'll buy one as soon as they go off sale.... 🙁

Let us know how you get on with it - your first examples look good and sharp.

I like it a lot. Not necessarily a replacement for my other cameras, but (as long as cargo pants remain in style) something with a large sensor that I can take out with me that fits in a pocket. I recommend it, especially if you can grab one for under $300.

Thanks for the kind words! Someone on Flickr liked one of my casino pics and added it to a gallery of other casino pics, very cool and first time something like that happens to me. It was this one:

this shot at f/2.8 11mm 1/2sec ISO 800. I wasn't getting the smoothness I wanted out of the water with the other shots, would have needed much longer exposure, so i just tried the opposite and turned out to prefer the water frozen in motion look this time.

Those are some really sharp shots with the nikon, spoon. had never heard of that camera before now.. looks pretty cool!

@EOM: the first pic was shot at f/7.1 @ 11mm with 3 second exposure at ISO 100. the second one also at 7.1 / 11mm but 6 second exposure, also ISO 100.

edit: not sure why the exif data gets nuked but probably something Flickr does to the file when you select the resolution to link to. I would link directly to the Flickr page, but they seem to now have advertisements which is annoying, I prefer just linking directly to an appropriate jpeg.

Nice shots with that coolpix, Spoon! This is the first I'm hearing of it and that is a SWEET camera from the specs! Your pictures prove it!
