I for one refuse to drive automatic.. I just hate them.

Don't listen to anyone who says new automatics are better and more efficient, it really doesn't matter to me... If I'm not clutching and shifting I don't enjoy driving. That's all there is to it.
 
Stick is more fun, auto is easier.

Get whatever, you'd prefer, but for what it's worth I love driving my manual '92 S10 (first car, i'm 17 too)
 
The car I wanted, an S2000, wasn't available as an auto so I bought one and had a local performance shop put in a used transmission from an older civic.

This has to be BS, from what i understand the S2000 engine spins the opposite direction as the D series engines(which is in older civics)
 
You must be joking, the traffic in and around Brussels is a bitch, and many people commute from Holland, France and other surrounding cities into Brussels, such as Ghent.

<--Working in Brussels for most of April. I live in Britain which has some of the worst traffic in the world. London, M25, M4 are my major headaches. I also drive an MT, and there is little difference in Stop/Go. As ZV said, it's really just a different foot jammed on a pedal, and anyway if your'e stopped for more than 20 seconds pop it into neutral, don't sit there He-man'ing the clutch. :awe:

In rush hour traffic, it takes me over 1 hour 15 minutes to drive ~45kms across the upperish part of Toronto to see the wifey. That's about 15-20kms from what you'd consider the downtown core of Toronto also.

So you prefer manual, last I check you aren't every single person out there. You like manual, he might prefer auto. Your opinion isn't the last word in transmissions.
 
Most I would do there is drinking something time to time and that is it, I cannot stand food in any car, and over here it is now illegal to drive and talking on the phone(BC Canada)

Good point nonetheless.

It's illegal in a lot of states here... people do it anyway... You'll find yourself being one of those people eventually. You'll be in your car asking someone, "I don't see this place... where is it? Where are you?"

As far as I know, a Civic transmission won't fit into an S2000.

I figured most wouldn't get to the very last part of my post.

For the record, I have not thought about, attempted, or ever considered putting an automatic transmission into my '03 S2000.

Could you imagine?!

Although I am considering a turbo kit by Mase Engineering based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Approx 400 hp & 300 torque would be pretty nice.

But then I'd also need a new clutch...
 
If you like to drive - feel a connection to the car, be in control of the car, stick.

If you could care less, auto.
 
MT is more fun. AT is more convenient. I prefer MT and dont see myself ever buying an AT car.
But everyone is different
 
I never understood the argument about stop and go traffic and a MT. I live in Belgium and 98% of cars here are MT. Traffic is sometimes just as horrendous here as in any other country / big city but I never heard someone saying, I'm getting myself an AT because of traffic jams....
lol and what is the percentage of cars with engines smaller than 2 liters over there?
 
Both the company car I often drive (ML350) and my wife's car (A4) have nice automatics...and I don't mind driving them...but as soon as I get into my truck, I remember how I LOVE a manual transmission...and my truck has one of the worst manual transmissions ever made. It is clunky, has long throws, and the drivetrain sounds like it is going to fall apart all of the time...and I still love it. Every time I get a chance to drive a car with a well done manual transmission...my loins twinge a little.

I will always try to own a manual transmission for my personal car (unless I end up with a hand-me-down from my wife).

That is absolutely not what I said, either.

I suggested learning both and pick... Whats the problem here?
 
As a longtime MT driver who has since been on AT for the past year...

Don't let it be a huge decision when buying a car. There are certain cirumstances where it matters more. If I'm in a stop-and-go environment often, I would avoid MT. If I'm getting a truck for towing or offroad, I'd avoid AT. But really you get used to whatever you're driving.

If you're concerned about what is more difficult, I probably put just as much thought into driving AT as MT. One you're controlling gears with a stick and the other with your foot on the gas pedal.
