What's done in the past is done, all that matters is what if your buying now.

Not at all an overreaction. I'm sick and tired of you swooping in making idiotic thread crapping comments all the time still OR trying to twist a statement or contort facts to fit the reality in which your brain can only exist. The statement was hd7970GE is cheaper than gtx680. I showed that was not true right now with links to the lowest prices for several cards each. You came in and said "fail" even though I clearly, clearly, without an irrefutable doubt showed a reality in which you just couldn't stand to bare - that the hd7970GE is not currently cheaper than gtx680.

Sorry, but it is you that fails hard at basic comprehension and acceptance but I guess you probably need to twist and qualify statements as much as possible so you can sleep a little better.

ANYWAYS, back on topic, 7970GE wins vs. 680, esp. with latest drivers and 1440p or higher resolution. AMD should have just released this card in January; based on the users on here 7970's have been hitting 1050mhz+ quite easily since day 1. Yields should not have been an issue at all, it was AMD just being AMD and shooting themselves in the foot.

So then report my post(s) which offend you oh so much, wannabe forum cop. Don't like what I say? I couldn't possibly care less dude. Ignore me. Keep your obvious obsession and personal opinions of me to yourself, or send me a love letter via pm. Thanks!

I would, but there isn't a "report brain dead posts" button. So go ahead and continue littering the bridge you live under.

A little poll has certainly ruffled some green feathers.

Someone should start one on Facebook to get a bigger sample size.

But some are saying this poll is more evidence of this forum being an AMD shill infested forum.....

People are just coming up with their own nonsense a lot of the time and forgetting the fact that many people that purchased a 680 didn't buy it yesterday. So they probably paid less than the 7970 was at the time and up until about a month or so ago, were getting superior performance. Now suddenly those people were stupid and got ripped off? How did all the sudden the GTX 680 become junk? It's not and as I said before, it was months between the 680 release and the new drivers that actually did what should have been done long ago IMO.

That's the buzz.

Welp looks like 7970 wins 3 to 1 over the GTX680.

It's a snapshot of the situation today. If this same poll was made about the top cards from both makers in March, April, May, June, July, or August it would have had substantially different outcomes, ranging from completely opposite results to being split down the middle.

I agree completely.

This thread is headed to lock city.

I think this is what is called a "circle jerk" thread. It's serving it's purpose.

Certain responses are trying to "bait" people into an argument.

I will stick to discussions using facts and avoid this.

Circle jerk thread? yeah ok. Unless I'm missing something, for the most part everything seems to be going alright.

Some people really do have too much time on their hands.

Honestly, I can't wait till nVidia retakes the performance crown so I can have that card and give people reason to accuse me of being NV biased.

To be honest, if one were to call me biased they are right in a way. I only like to have the best. I don't like neutered cards or ones that are artificially limited. It's kind of the reason why I wasn't fond of the 480 and now the 680. The 480 was a strong performer and all but the thought of having disabled cores always rubbed me the wrong way. I loved my 580 though =).

Bring on a hot, power hungry and blisteringly powerful GK110 and it will be in my rig the second it becomes available. Till then, this MSI Lightning 7970 that is running at 1250mhz with headroom to spare is my pick this round

Maybe you should start an identical poll at ABT.I still lurk a lot there.

with 5 or so active posters and half trying to become part of the nvidia focus group with the other half actually being part of the focus group, I'm sure we can guess how that will turn out. lol.

Apop, If you are reading this, I mean no harm.... There was laughter as I wrote that. I love ABT, keep up the good work. ABT is in my favorites list =)

LOL....Of course he's reading.A huge majority of their posts are about ATF.

Tell him to come back here and face the shills, like a gladiator against the horde, fight the good fight and all that.

Oh yeah you don't have to tell him because he will read it himself in spite of his claims to being ''done with here''.....^_^.

Im quite sure the 680 on release was faster and took back the single GPU crown, and its wasn't until this happened that AMD pulled their finger out of their arse and decided to do something about fixing their drivers. CF was broken for 6mths+ with multi monitors....
And least impressive?, it was cooling and quieter than any flagship prior card...

Still I wouldn't expect any other comment from a AMD appreciation forum....LOL

Cool and quiet is irrelevant in terms of impressing on a flagship card. What enthusiast would rather a cool and quiet GTX 680 with the 30% performance gain it has over the 580 instead of having got a hot/loud card with a 70% performance gain like in the past ?

The 480 was an obnoxiously vile card for heat and noise, but at least it was 70% faster than the 285.

Cool and quiet is nice, but not impressive on a flagship if it doesn't come with the performance you expect. The 680 is the least impressive card since the Geforce 7 series for sure. 8800GTX, GTX 280, GTX 480 all delivered massive performance gains.

No doubt since so many of us bought 680s we are going to get a crappy card for the 780 as well. Unless AMD manages to release a really fast card that forces nvidia to use a large die for their geforce line again. Nvidia is going to happily keep releasing small dies with crappy generational gains as long as we keep buying them.

Tell me about it. You've got sentimental, overly sensitive Nvidia fans here who leave their tears in all their posts, but don't realize that some of us have owned, or still own (like myself), top end Nvidia hardware. It's sad lol. Yeah, I'm also biased... towards high end hardware. That's why I have a 7970 Lightning, and had a super overclocked, v-modded DC II 680. My kid has his own 680. Yeah, so biased. You drama queens need a friggin soap opera, AT VC&G edition

nVidia has consistently lost performance advantage it had over AMD on it's flagship card and it's AMD with it's thumb up it's ass?

Lets me see if I can illustrate this for you:

GTX 280 >>> HD 4870
GTX 480 >> HD 5870
GTX 580 > HD 6970
GTX 680 ~ HD 7970

Wow, way to misquote bro...how about AMD cards are getting better so the lost performance is due to AMD gain, not NV loss?....

Talk about missing the mark. Dude, the drivers were so bad for so long the 680 was faster at release all the way up until a month or so ago. Yes AMD had it's thumb up its ass. They should have had drivers like this ready way sooner and then they might not have had to drop prices so hard. Not that price drops were bad, but when the competition releases a card that sells for less and is faster, that's not very good.
