At last, crack rack pics updated.:-)

RC,

Today's (or, technically yesterday's) pproxy total was 41.25 Mk/s. But, this includes my three Windows boxes at the shop; Athlon 700Mhz, Celeron 550Mhz, and Duron 950Mhz.

that was the wrong answer, Russ. you're supposed to say that the crack rack is going to start running seti when rc5 is over... 😉

Russ thanks for the picts.. wish I had the space.. I am at the point of having to use 'offsite storage' now : (

do you know how many amps, your rack requires??

..Dale

Dale,

It, the build bench, the test bench, the office and the sales counter are all running off of a 20 amp breaker.

I'm not sure what the EMR levels are, but I bet you that Russ doesn't need headlights when he drives home at night 😉

Dang Russ, that crack rack is putting out as much if not more tahn my entire work herd! :Q

Please don't take this the wrong way, but "You got a nice rack there!" 😀

Great going Russ! I'm developing a case of Rack envy🙂😀🙂😀

What are the dimensions of the board used? I've thought about adding a cheap HD (pulled .5GB) to the configuration you have to more easily run S@H without the need to have a Linux or NT type server. I noted that you have the FD in a 5.25" mount, what is the reason for that?

Thanks for sharing!

Curt,

Too damn much.😀 When I get time, I'll add it all up.

JWMiddleton,

Do you mean the motherboards? If so, the single proc ones are standard ATX size, the dualies are a bit larger. If you mean the plywood, it's 13" x 16".

The individual node pics that you're looking at aren't completely accurate. I need to update those. Originally, I was using the 5 1/4" mounts as a way to anchor it to the wood. But, if you look closely at the rack itself, the floppy drives are mounted with a plain metal bracket that wraps around them. Got the drives, including the bracket, for $5 each at Boeing Surplus.

Russ - Would you be willing to list the various surplus sites that you have used and would be willing to use again. If it's a long list perhaps just the top ten.

RC,

It wasn't really that many different places. Boeing Surplus, as I mentioned. Evertek.com, Overstock.com, and some RMA stuff. A pile of the CPU's came from Dan.😀

Mucman,

All the nodes have a video card.

So do you have these computers setup so that when the boot the automaticaly start cracking, with out you having to see the monitors? Or do you have some huge switch that allows you to use 1 monitor to check all of the computers?

I have five 4 port analog KVM switches daisy-chained to use the same keyboard and monitor on all. On node 12 and 13, though, I have to plug in a keyboard directly because of signal degradation. For my next rack, I got a couple 6 port digital switches in to solve this problem.
