At last, crack rack pics updated.:-)

Hey Russ
I was wondering if you would consider throwing together a detailed How-To on how you set all this up?
I've got the one 750 Athlon cracking away but I would be interested in possibly adding a M.B./CPU combo every couple weeks or so and as you have done it...who more qualified to tell all of us! 😉
A few questions I have are:
Can you splice a P.S. to run more than one board combo?
How to Network them together?
What's the minimum ram/combo..32 or 64MB?
Can you boot without a videocard on a Network? (or do you use integrated video boards)
If I'm buying new and I have heard Durons have a good core for RC5, would a 600 Duron O.C. to a stable 7-800MHz. be a good choice?
Should I just get the cheapest SocketA board (w/integrated video?)
Do all the combos dump blocks to the main box, directly to the Out buffer, or do they connect to DNET themselves through the Network?(I'm on cable)
Thanks!

You can, but I've never tried it. I think LD has done this.

How to Network them together?

NIC and switches. Mine are grabbing an IP off the DHCP built in to the Linksys router.

With Klinux, which is what I'm using on the nodes, you can go as low as 16MB.

You can, but it requires a boot prom, and this is over my head. I have a vid card on each node-not integrated.

They are a butt-kicker in RC5. All the Duron 600's I've tested would do at least 900Mhz. I have one cracking at 950 right now, kicking out 3.39 MKeys/s. But, it requires a board that allows you to change the multiplier.

Should I just get the cheapest SocketA board (w/integrated video?)

If you only want to run at default speed.

They are fetching and flushing to the pproxy on my server. The ini file on each node has it mapped to the address of one of the NICs in the server. They can, however, flush directly to Dnet. I used to do that until I set up the pproxy software.

Interesting...Thanks for the reponse Russ, that should hold me till I start to get all this together! 🙂

Being self-employed myself I know the feeling of having NO time....but if you ever do, a How-To on your experiences could encourage others to do the same! <nudge, nudge> 😉

Edit:
Sukhoi
Thanks for the heads up! Very strange though, I have clicked on it myself about 3 or 4 times and it always worked...must be Halloween coming.......:Q

<< They are a butt-kicker in RC5 >>

and also in OGR

RC: Hello my name is RC and I'm a RC5/OGR addict ....

Group: Welcome RC

RC: I must confess I checked my stats before coming to this meeting

🙂🙂🙂

The boot prom is a good idea, but the expense doesn't outweigh the ease of getting a cheap vid and cheap floppy drive. Cheap is after all the name of the game. 🙂

I have seen this crack rack in person, and it is a sight to behold. You can't see it in the pictures, but there's a family of raccoons living in the tangled mess of cables behind that shelf.

<< For my next rack, I got a couple ...... >>

Omigosh!!!!

The Borg only have one purpose.......Assimilate everything:Q
