I went ahead and joined. I don't really expect to win, since I won't be playing much, but I figured I would help out my fellow Anandtech'ers so you could start the contest.

I got 65 points when I brought my 360 to a friends place this weekend - I didn't have it connected to live, so I'm holding off plugging it back in until tomorrow

I achieved 100 points today playing The Orange Box. I guess I should have held off, but I'm not really "trying" to compete. Then again, a $50 Best Buy gift card would be very useful. ;)

OH I SEE!
In the past 4 days, I've beaten Mass Effect (+100,+20,+20,+20), Played some more of episode 2 in Orange Box (+5,+5,+5), started playing Rock Band (+10,+10,+10), and went on an absolute tear in Burnout Paradise (+35,+10,+50,+25)

So, if I held off.... I'd be up 325 now :(

Oh-ho-ho, should I play seriously or not? ;) I have so many unplayed games that it'd be an absolute washout.

King Kong? NBA2k6? Avatar?
three thousand points in about 7 hours of playing (6 of those are for King Kong).

Nah, I tend to avoid movie games, sports games and games based on lame anime-wannabes :p.

But I do have the Warriors games from Koei. To unlock the achievements in those you typically just unlock characters (which requires beating the game with a specific character). You can pretty much cheat by putting the game on easy, playing 2P Co-op and having a high level just do everything for you. Unfortunately, I beat most of Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM already :(.

Let me think if I can recall a list of games I've never played or have no achievements in...

Assassin's Creed
Burnout Paradise
Bullet Witch
Bomberman Act Zero
Crackdown
Dead or Alive 4
Lost Planet
Perfect Dark Zero
PGR3
Rainbow Six Vegas
Warriors Orochi
Dynasty Warriors 6
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Devil May Cry 4
Beautiful Katamari
<edit>Mass Effect*</edit>

I think there's more but I can't really remember. I'll have to figure out which are the easiest and then there's some that have "easy" achievements like Enchanted Arms (beat the game, get all achievements), Kameo (same as EA), etc.

EDIT:

*I'mma be crucified for that one :p.

You can play however you want. I've had a friend repeatedly tell me that I should borrow his kids' "Open Season" and "Cars" games because he got 1000 in each in a few hours. I've held off on playing them because I didn't want to be seen as cheap. But if others start playing easy 1000 pointers, I'll probably join in. :p

One thing that I wasn't terribly pleased about was on the last day of our last contest, the winner took his 360 offline or changed his privacy settings so that his achievements didn't upload until the last hour or so. So I went to bed thinking I won by 50 (leaving a LOT of easy achievement points on the table) and then found out that I lost by 50 in the morning. I would appreciate limiting attempts to be deceptive in our "friendly" competition.

Yeah who even was that? I didn't recognize the gt. Did some random get in our competition?

Can the leader boot people before it starts if he doesn't know them from here?

I didn't mean to start a witch hunt. :p I was just hoping to avoid a repeat so that the leader didn't have to sit up clutching "Open Season" on the last night of the contest to see if they can avoid getting eBay auction-like sniped.

I can sort of understand that except for the last hour thing. Most of my 360 playtime is at my girlfriend's place and she's still using AOL. Of course I ended the competition with a whopping 0 point so it didn't matter much. Had I gotten any points it would have been uploaded all at once sometime in the middle of the day.

Yea, it was only a $20 gift card so I don't mean to cry, but it will inevitably sound like it. :p It could be a total mistake on my part to think there was ill-intent, but by mentioning it I hope we can avoid a similar situation for whomever is leading this time.

By "last hour" do you mean midnight? I think I read that the site only updates the scores between 12:00AM-1:00AM each day, so was it just getting the final tally for that day?

You can boot people before it starts. I didn't know, and still don't know who that guy is.

I'm not sure how I feel about saving points up right before the end. It was most likely intentional, but I guess it's just "smarter"? I don't know. I was hoping to avoid things like that by getting a group from here and not random stragglers on another forum.

This 2-week contest already seems more competitive - people are 50+ points up and it hasn't even been 12 hours.

The site does show real-time updates if you're hooked into Xbox Live. The contest closed at 12PST, so that's 3AM my time (EST).

I went to bed at 1AM with a 50-60 point lead and I was watching Grooming Monkey's XBL profile intermittently throughout the day to see what he was playing and to see if I had to go back to the well anymore since it seemed like I had it wrapped up. I don't have the exact message, but throughout the day his XBL profile said the user was either offline or had their privacy settings set so that their current status could not be seen. If you go to his 360 Voice Profile, it can't tell you what game he was playing on 02/23/08, just that he got 125 points. It can't tell you what he was playing because it was hidden all day while he was earning the final 125 needed to put him over the top.

He did nothing outside the rules and as I said there could have been no ill-intent. It just didn't seem like something that I would feel comfortable doing in a competition against you guys.

Looks like I don't stand a chance when people play games like TMNT and NCAA.

I play every day but only games I would normally play. I think I only got like 150 gamerscore for the 2 weeks but I dunno I forgot my password to that site.

I've probably played every day since the contest started, but not necessarily getting any points.

Yea, there are a ton of easy 1000pt games. Kinda makes the challenge a joke though its all fair game. I'm playing Lost Odyssey and with a week left there is no chance of me winning this thing. No big deal though as I didn't expect to win this playing a rpg! Maybe next time some games that are ultra easy 1000pt games (ie: tmnt) shouldn't be allowed much like Avatar.
