i have been eating a lot of this salted caramel recently.. its good
Breyer's is like the cheap Chinese lead/asbestos drywall of ice creams.
Snobs!
Anyone find an ingredients list?
Edit: found it.
Quote:
Skim Milk, Maltitol Syrup, Toffee Pieces [Maltitol, Polydextrose, Coconut Oil, Butter (Cream, Salt), Nonfat Dry Milk, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Natural And Artificial Flavor, Sucralose], Maltodextrin, (Corn), Cream, Whey, Contains 2% Or Less of Each of The Following: Mono- And Diglycerides, Guar Gum, Carob Bean Gum, Caramel Color, Salt, Acesulfame Potassium, Carrageenan, Natural Flavors, Sucralose (Splenda(R) Brand), Tara Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate.
Costco sells ice cream that's actually made from cream -- what a crazy idea, right? It only has 5-6 ingredients total (cream is the first ingredient), and is FANTASTIC. It does only come in a vanilla flavor, and is super thick. It's the Kirkland Signature brand, around here (MN) it's ~$9-10 for two of the half-gallon containers.
Fresh cream, skim milk, sugar, pasteurized egg yolks, natural vanilla, carob bean gum, guar gum. Contains milk and eggs
There really isn't much wrong with that list.
Milk is a given
Maltitol Syrup is just sugar
Toffee is Toffee and has nothing too ridiculous in it.
Milk, Salt, Soy Lethicin, which is harmless.
Maltodextrin is also sugar
And rest is more sugars, some binding agents and flavors.
What is exactly wrong with that list?
I would normally agree with that but in this instance it's true, Bryer's has gone waaay downhill, if you live in the SE area Publix brand is 10X better than Bryer's, they operate their own dairy out of Lakeland FL and their ice cream is better than all of the big-name producers with the exception of Ben and Jerry's but B=J's is more than double the price of Publix brand.
because the shit that is in that list is not what you make ice cream out of.
