Unfortunately the weather forecast for the rest of the week is for showers and rain, so I'll probably be making the training rides short and hilly, staying close to home.

Same here. 6 miles to work this morning - who knows how I'll get home...

and another 12.
Couldn't do the long way home...I was hungry, left hamstring was shortened and hurting because I didn't do enough stretching, got off work tired and with a headache, just looking forward to getting home, and a meal :-/

Since my last post, I did six days' worth of mundane commutes and one grocery run, for about 45 miles. Today I got out for a relatively short "real" ride: http://app.strava.com/activities/62396189 22 miles, 17.9mph average, and I improved two of my standing KOM marks with a couple intense efforts (and help from my lighter mountain bike).

I would've liked to get more "real" rides last week, but some serious rain and this other thing called "work" got in the way. More rain coming... :(

Is there an AT strava group?

There is, here ya go: http://app.strava.com/clubs/anandtech

Yesterday I did the 7-mile basic commute. Today I managed 4 miles in the morning and 12 after work. And that was all I really had the mental or physical energy for, after going all day with one bowl of cereal for breakfast, a peanut-butter sandwich and some milk for lunch, and a PowerBar at 4PM. But I did manage to climb one hill, and kept a good pace: http://app.strava.com/activities/62890008 A new PR for me on Greenwood XL, and now 2nd on the leaderboard by a few seconds, with the >30lb commuter mountain bike toting a pannier full of clothes. Hey, I'll take it :p

edit: ooops, I actually did only 12.5 miles total today. Total below has been updated.

6+27 today.
PB on the climb to the long way home, now rather firmly in the top 50 (yeah, KOMs around here are...quite the challenge)

Also PB on the straight :D
Got a nice draft (well, more than 10ft behind a sedan, but better than nothing), and backwind, so I averaged a good 30 mph on the quarter mile.

Also got a good average speed, with a round 29kph, despite a nasty, nasty headwind on the last 10 miles. 5-10 mph right in my face, with gusts that at times must have topped 20-25 mph....Gave me a right beating.

felt bleh after work, as well as it being a bit cold and quite windy.
So I attacked the 6 miles home with gusto, and did them (through town, with bad headwind at times) in 23 minutes. Including a 7th place, at a quarter mile 4-5% sprint between some lights - averaged almost 30, despite wind and climb.

So only 12 miles, but I get to go to bed relatively early for once, and I feel quite good about the pace I made.

Intensity is our friend, the training from those hard intervals is valuable. I had a case of meh after work myself. I left work and just stood in the parking lot thinking "NOW what?" o_O In the end, I just made up a 12-mile route as I went:

http://app.strava.com/activities/63313568

I put in a couple of pretty intense efforts (average HR over 185 for about 4 minutes apiece) and grabbed two KOMs to add to my commuter mountain bike's mantelpiece :) The heart-rate zone chart for this ride is just scary:

Adding a 2-mile cooldown, the 3-mile morning commute, and a 2-mile errand to Office Depot, we got +19 for...

207 miles since last posting in May. This includes the linked ride below that I did on my cross bike in Myakka State Park and Carlton Nature Preserve. Only 26 miles, but the recent rains made this the hardest ride I have done in years. I rode through 6" deep standing water, lots of mud, deep sand, driving rain, flooding, nasty chafing just to list a few of the hardships. Still had a blast though!!

8 miles yesterday, just the direct commute plus going to pay rent. It was quite hot for our area, about 100F when I left work. I would've liked to do a bit of highway riding, but I had to head straight home.

63 miles, solo metric century. I could have planned the ride better--all the hard climbs were in the last 15 miles.

7 miles yesterday, and 73 today: http://app.strava.com/activities/64799690 That one was on my good mountain bike. I set out with a gallon of energy drink, two flasks of energy gel, and lots of sunscreen :D and went up Mount Spokane on a forest-service road. 3800 feet of non-stop climbing in one shot, that's as much as you can arrange around here :) Temps were mid-80F and sunny.

My edge was already getting blunt by the time I hit the summit, and then I headed for home and was rewarded by non-stop headwind the whole way back. So it felt rather underwhelming as far as my endurance went.
