22 miles tonight. Did some hill repeats. Didn't have too much daylight left, but better than riding the trainer.

Went out for some hill work here, too. My Cat3 clubmate needs to get his training up to speed after a 2-week vacation in Puerto Rico, so we went out after work:

http://app.strava.com/rides/5188716
~40 miles, 3700ft ascent

I had the studded-tire mountain bike, but without the saddlebags, and he was on his beater road bike. I was climbing stronger tonight, though... that Puerto Rican vacation sounds awesome, but not from a cardiovascular perspective :D Thanks to Daylight Saving Time, we had daylight for the first half of the ride or so, but we both have good lights too.

Total 1228 (an extra 2 miles for my morning commute)

24 very wet miles in 40F rain: http://app.strava.com/rides/5230815 The bike was loaded to the hilt, too, I weighed it when I got home... 55 pounds.

I'll give myself an extra mile for the morning commute, which was the direct route.

Tomorrow I start the Strava/Specialized climbing challenge: to do 105,312ft of ascent between March 15th and April 30th.

Today was the first day of that climbing challenge I signed up for. So I added some climbs to the morning commute, making it 31 miles: http://app.strava.com/rides/5247406 There was a little rain sprinkling, but not bad.

The homebound commute was a different story! It was pouring rain... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9roZijDnAfk

I put on my raingear and did another 40 miles and over 3000ft ascending on the way home. At least it was in the mid-40F range, so although I ended up with shoes full of water, it wasn't acutely dangerous, just miserable.

Tonight I knocked out 46 miles, 4300ft ascent, and an alleged 3100 calories on the way home: http://app.strava.com/rides/5311493 The weather was overcast and 40F, no rain. I had a fair amount of cargo weight (laundry from work and a gallon of Gatorade) and the full dose of air drag (bar covers and saddlebags) so it was a bit of work.

Total: 1422 (adding one mile for the morning commute)

Group ride today on road bikes: http://app.strava.com/rides/5403592

Adding 2.4 miles to get to the starting point, I'll round that off to another 95 miles, 3600ft ascent, and probably 3000-4000 calories in reality. We started with ten people and three did the full route shown above.

34 mile recovery ride yesterday. Got rained on briefly, but overall warm and pleasant. This is March, right?

I did the rural route to work plus two added climbs on the side (32 miles, 2400ft ascent), and did a hill-hunting session on the commute home for another 23 miles and 2200ft ascent. So a 55-mile Monday.

Morning commutes are never awesome since I'm trying to digest breakfast, and this evening's commute was only so-so because the clear skies were causing the temperature to rapidly drop towards freezing AND I'd done a 95-mile Sunday the day before. Time for a rest day tomorrow, which works out well since it's supposed to snow.

Got in a good 31 miles and burned about 1250 kcal with a couple of climbs up a steep ridge in my area. I turned my GPS on about 2000km from where I last turned it off, so it took a while to find the satellites - hence the low distance on Strava: http://app.strava.com/activities/5503589

16. The 1st ride this year on my MTB vs the indoor spin. Sucked...at least 2 minutes behind last years pace. Hoping the pollen doesn't kill me.

8 miles on the trainer at lunch today.

Every 4th week of training, I cut my mileage back so this week will be meager for contributions. The next few months will be big, however, as I have a century on April 29 and back-to-back centuries on May 12 and 13.
