27 miles today. I need to start to ride more to get ready for my first imperial century in early May.

25 miles today (3 to work, 22 after work). I've been commuting 7 miles a day, 5-6 days a week, but slacked off on posting those.

Tonight's after-work ride started with a climb. I could tell I'd lost a lot of my cardio progress that I'd made in the winter (ironically). The bike has shed its studded tires and its panniers, though, so it was getting good "fuel economy" and I was putting some effort into it (average HR around 165, peaks @ 189). So since it didn't kill me, I'm declaring it a successful training ride ():)

12 miles.
Overtook a Ferrari on the way home, too.

Well, it pulled up next to me (either a 430 or Italia), then stopped and the lights, and I lane split my way past, and pulled off faster than the traffic it was stuck in.
Also had frequent incidents of people not checking their mirrors/sides when turning right. Luckily I know not to trust anyone - apparently a girl got killed on her bike this morning by getting into a truck's blind spot.

Another 25 miles yesterday, same deal as Monday. I still felt like trash on the initial ascent straight out the door from work, but averaged a little faster over the same route (18.6mph) for a similar effort.

back in the saddle after a 3 month hiatus

+6 from yesterday; my lungs are shot, my legs are shot. yet my times are pretty close to what I was doing 3 months ago. Hmm....

Yesterday I did 25 (3 in the morning, 22 after work) and took it easy, since I'd gone hard the previous two days.

Tonight I went hard again and had a good ride, 19.4mph average on the mountain bike (city/highway riding). My back aches a bit, but less than yesterday (I changed my saddle position a bit and I think it helped).

So +50 miles over the two days.

I signed up for a Strava challenge that runs all April, too. It's a plain old distance challenge, 820 miles. That should be pretty straightforward since it's about 27 miles per day, I just need to get ahead of the game early so I can skip days when the weather's really bad or work keeps me late.

7 miles today. I probably would've enjoyed going the 22-mile route home, since it was so nice out, but I had two panniers stuffed with laundry and got out of work late, so I made it a rest day.

Today I rode my XC mountain bike over to the bike shop, did some work on it, ate a PBJ sandwich and then headed home via the 22-mile rural route. It was a little disappointing performance-wise, maybe because I was digesting my sandwich. But still not too bad, 19.1mph average speed and a shiny new PR on a 3-minute climb. So anyway, +25 miles for...

Fixed (replaced) my bottom bracket bearing yesterday. Hopefully future rides will not be accompanied by a steady click-click-click.
A bit busy this weekend, so not sure if I get around to a test drive..

57 miles with a group. So much easier in a pace line than solo. Also, I build up my first set of wheels last week. Unfortunately, the GP4000S's I ordered for them haven't come in yet so I rode in my old set.

14 miles today. I stocked up on some stuff for the Strava distance challenge that starts on 4/1 and runs all month, such as cereal and a couple gallons of chocolate milk for my recovery drink. So hopefully tomorrow I can turn in a healthy dose of miles for Day 1, the weather's looking excellent. 60 to 80 would be good. Details at 11 :)

57 miles Saturday with a small group, then an easy 18 solo yesterday. Including Friday's ride, that's 110 miles for the long weekend. 6 weeks to go until my annual double century weekend, so things are pretty much on track. Last year I missed half of my training days for April due to business travel and being sick, so I'm looking forward to a better month this year.

Today was the first day of the Strava distance challenge, so I took the rural route to work (21 miles at an I'm-digesting-my-breakfast pace).

After work I did about 3 hours with a mix of gravel and paved rural roads, 48.6 miles total @ 17.0mph. My legs were approaching the cramping stage at the end, so it was a good training ride. I got home and ate a whole package of raspberry-filled oatmeal cookies and about a quart of chocolate milk, so that's three food groups right there ():) and I have a piece of chicken baking right now, if I can stay awake long enough to eat it...

I did nearly a 12-hour workday, but managed to make myself take the long way home, getting home around 11PM. This was punished by a nice headwind to go with the outbound ascent. Oh well... 3.5 + 25.5 miles for the day, so +29.

Another really long day at work. I settled for the short route both ways on my commute, so +7 miles. Rain is coming, so I'll probably be kicking myself for not doing the 20-mile route now while it's pleasant (57F and fair).

all on dirt.

you guys doing 40 miles on a work day must be riding road bikes!

I may have to invest in a full suspension and convert my hardtail to a commuter/adventure bike.

12 miles yesterday.
Rain predicted for today, I hope it won't be too bad on the way home...
I hope that soon there'll be enough light for me to take the long way home as well.
And I need to start working on my climbing.
