<< Actually, if anyone came at me threateningly with a weapon of any sort, I draw on him. If he doesn't immediately drop it or run, he takes two and dies. Period. >>

i never actually thought americans thought this way.

i was wrong.

*kat. <-- shocked

That statement is rediculous. [ Q]i never actually thought americans thought this way.[/i] >>

As with all societies including yours. There are people with this attitude. If you live in Great Britian. Where your people have been nueter'd and guns have been removed from society, You can insert knife into the scenerio.
It is an unfortunate fact that in order for society to take the middle ground you have to have People on both extremes. They all play a role in keeping society health.
I happen to agree with this gentleman. Officially 14ft. is the distance a man weilding a knife is considered a lethal threat. Due to the fact that he can close that distance in the blink of an eye. and then you have a maniac with a knife in your face.
Bottom line is. You are far from moraly superior. I am glad your little world is safe.
All americans dont think think this way.. But america would be safer and people would show more respect to each other if they did.
the end result would be a more Civil Society.

<< All I have to say is that three of my friends were just convicted of murder for this. >>

I wouldn't advertise that these losers are your friends. They got carried away, and now they're going to pay for it.

I think the shot to the knee would have been enough to incapacitate the man. Once I read about the blows to the head, I realized your friends were KILLERS, plain and simple. You don't take a bat to someones HEAD without the thought of permanent injury or death. :|

You won't find many who sympathize with you around here.

<< Did I read this right? HE CALLED THE COPS after hitting you with a bat? We're no doubt missing part of this story! >>

well since more and more criminals are "church goers", the "ethical" thing to do would be to turn yourself in!

<< So im at this party, and everyone is leaving, its like 11:30 and this guy comes up the street with an aluminum baseball bat. >>

Why was everyone leaving at 11:30???

<< Did I read this right? HE CALLED THE COPS after hitting you with a bat? We're no doubt missing part of this story! >>

I thought he meant his friend called the cops. He went over to his friends car cause he didn't want anything to do with it, and "he" called the cops.

<< Actually, if anyone came at me threateningly with a weapon of any sort, I draw on him. If he doesn't immediately drop it or run, he takes two and dies. Period.... I'm not huge (5'11" 200-230lbs (depending on current health)) . >>

Not me, I would have taken out my Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher and fragged his butt, I'm not small (Between 6'8" 320-380 LBS depending on the story) but when some Mofo threatens me with a bat I go Medeival on them.... Hahahaha!!

I agree.
A lot of people are of this mentality that defending yourself is wrong. Obviously these people aren't concerned with protecting themselves or their loved ones. Which is their choice, but not mine. Which, in their opinion makes me a savage. Well they can go to hell for all I care.
I am smart enough to know that not everywhere I happen to go is safe, and I chose not to be stupid, and try to be aware and prepared just in case something should happen. I will not let anyone harm me or my family, period.

Eakers, why does his statement shock you (I must admit that he is probably over simplifiing his statement, as I am sure he would not shoot the guy if he did not run, or drop the weapon. Only if he continued to advance), why is it wrong to defend yourself. Should he turn tail and run, and hope that he gets away, or that his friends and family do to.

Should he just assume that they guy only really wants his wallet and hand that over, or that he only will hit him a couple times to render him incapacitated so that he can take is watch, wallet and wedding ring. After all, he is professional burgular, and he does this professionally, right? He sould give the guy the benfit of the doubt, right.

"Don't worry honey, he just wants to rob us, not kill us right?"
"Excuse me Mr. Thief, not in the face, ok, the wife just had her nose done." Ok, your gonna hit me twice and the wife once, right, you take the valuables, we'll roll around in pain just enought to get you off ok, good".
BAM, BANG, WOPP
"Hey, MR Thief, I think you killed my wife, Don't you remeber you were just supposed to hurt us and take our valuables"

No, I personally choose to not let anyone hurt or harm those that I love, You threaten me (them) I will assume the worst and protect myself justly.

I listen to a lot of people go on and on all the time and respect their opinion for what it is worth, but mention protecting yourslef and listen to them huff and puff and haugh, shake their heads, and muttle under their breath.

" Oh, I'm so shocked, you are such a savage!"....

Yeah, maybe I am, but at least I respect your choice to not feel like you need to protect yourself. I myself, have seen too much, met to many people, have lost a loved one, and will not violate anyones rights, untill then show intent to violate mine.

The son of a friend of my Fathers was recently killed. He had just parked his car and was getting out of his car (he was almost home) when someone came out to steal his car, they not only stole his car, but they SHOT him to death. HOW FVCKING SENSELESS IS THAT.

I don't know the whole story, i don't know if anyone does, I don't believe there were any witnesses, he was found shot to death and his car was stolen.

My point is, SELF DEFENSE IS NOT WRONG.

Who knows what would've happenend if he had been carrying, he still might have died, but you would think at least he would've had a chance to live. (at worst he would have died)

I personally do not own a hand gun, but this incident has made me rethink my position.

That is a sad story.

A fun does not assure protection, but if you have the chance to protect yourself, it (or any other weapon) can save your life. Being aware and alert will deter most from jumping you on the street. Just looking pro-active goes a long way.

I personally don't always cary my gun, when I ride my motorcycle I have an asp that I keep on me.

Where's forkin' MrFrogger to answer some of this shiznit? Post a fuggin topic, hang around 10 minutes and leave! F*ck that! :frown:

Edit: Now I see this numbskull started a second topic on this same subject! Damn it, this forum is cluttered enough without this kind of crap! And if that isn't bad enough, of the last 27 topics he participated in, he started 20 of the topics! :frown:

I'm seeing a pattern of posting a topic (rather than a reply to an existing one), then disappearing. Either get your sh|t together or disappear for good!
