I took the tests this past week. Got a 97 on the ASVAB. They told me I can pretty much do anything I want to in the Air Force.

I was sworn in on Thursday, and I'm now officially in the United States Air Force!

Congrats, what job did you pick?

I'm going in as an E-2 since I already have some college under my belt. Looking to go into Electronic/Information Warfare.

I'm totally psyched now, and I'm ready to go kick some ass when I go to BMT in April.

Cool, I went in under electronic warfare systems. Worked on the AN/ALQ184 pod that hangs under the a10s and f16s. It was a decent job, worked in the shop, basically felt like a regular 9-5 job.

meh, I took the AFOQT (this one is for officers) and got 80 then decided to not join the Air Force in the end. If I did, I'd be coming in as a leutenant without having gone through any of the abuse you scrubs have to go through.

I didnt take it because I did not want to join the Army or military. I would most likely have scored very high and then they would stalk me through college.

Congrats... now the armed services will bother you most among all of your classmates.

Don't give yourself so much credit, because its probably not due.

I thought the same thing, and now I regret not taking it in High School. I'd have three years of service under my belt instead of three months :p

Agreed. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence should ace or nearly ace the ASVAB. The Nuke test was a little more difficult but still no big deal.

I scored a 102 on the ASVAB test back in high school. The only reason I remember is because it was the second highest score in my class, and I was pretty pumped about it. The one guy above me got a 105 I believe, if I remember correctly.

Heh. I got a 98 myself in 12th grade. 'Course that was in 88... heh

The car questions were a joke. Pic of carburator: Is this: engine? Carburator? Transmission?

ASVAB is easy as hell. you have to be a dunce to score less than a 95. I took it for fun, I was drunk/hungover and scored a 98.

 I scored a 102 on whatever test it was, then, and I was told it was the ASVAB. I remember sitting in the school library with everyone else, answering stupid questions about which way gears turn and whatnot :). The girl who scored third got a 101.

when i took mine in high school 1986, I didnt do so good because i got in a fricken fight with a bum, yea thats right a homeless bum in downtown Denver. I didnt do anyting to provoke this ass. i parked my car a few blocks away and when i was walking to the MEPS i heard a voice behind me. I turned around and asked the guy if he was talking to me.

the next thing i know he is saying "you making fun of my singing", I had my high school band jacket on, and then he calls me all kinds of names. So i walk away and get to an intersection. the bum is right behind me and keeps up his verbal assault while i waited for the walk signal to turn. well to the left of me there was this lady who i just make eye contact with and just roll my eyes about this damn bum. I ignored him and he didnt like that so he pushed me into the street where i almost get hit by a taxi.

well that was enough for me. the lady who was there is quickly walking away. so i get back on the curb and wait for mr bum to to get close enough again. he does and when he tried to push me again i spun around and made 100% elbow to nose contact. laied the son of a bitch out cold. Traffic was clear and i just went on my way.

WHile taking my ASVAB my mind started going nuts. from fear, to rage, to the cops are looking for me.... My score was good enough to get me in as a Air Force cop and did that for 10 years. About 3 years before i got out i retook the ASVAB to try to retrain into another career field. i scored mid 90's across the board the second time around.

Yeah. They asked stuff about what kind of saw you would use for cutting drywall or whatever, stuff like that. I just put A for everything in that section.

I took the ASVAB before I finished high school(was considering either navy or air force)
I scored like a 90. My naval recruiter wanted me to go into the nuke program(kept bugging me to signup for the advance placement test), but I wanted either intel or cyrpto, but he kept insisting on going into the nuke program so I desided not to join up(I could careless if a classmate or two went into the nuke program.)

same in 1988 or so. Had recruiters calling daily and even a year later to 'check on how things are going'.

Supposedly 99 is the highest but there is a range within that as well.

You're lucky they didn't ask you to spell carburetor. ;)

I don't remember what I got on the ASVAB (the score didn't matter to me), but the test result said that I could do pretty much anything I wanted, except I couldn't fix cars for a living. The rest of the results included why I should join the military.

Such a lovely test

The ASVAB is a joke for anyone with a brain and common sense. Apparently there are lots of people out there with neither.
