Asus P4P800D tells me "system cpu test failed"

Do the fans spin? Can you boot up without keyboard or mouse? I think we need more information as possible.


If you get some type of power, the p4p800D has AI, plug in a set of headphones/speakers into the onboard sound to hear errors. Could be an overtightened heatsink if you are not using a stock one...lots of errors the board can tell you.

OMG, thank you. I plugged in some headphones, get thes voice telling me "cpu failed test" over and over again...and i thought it was the keyboard!!! Now, just to figure out how to fix it.

Yup, just loosen the bolts up a bit and you should be golden.

eh? you think its the heatsink? I have the stock intel p4 one...everything just snaps in.

grr :| switched out the cpu incase, god forbid, the one i was using was dead. Still no, I dunno how i can make the heatsink not so tight..its the one intel sent with.

hmmm...I guess unsnap it from the black slot and insert it back in, that's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

I switched heatsinks(still stock intel, but different style) same "system failed cpu test error" I then unclipped the crossover levers and powered up expecting it to turn itself off from overheating, but it didn't over heat & gave the error msg still.

clearing the CMOS would erase any & all previous bios settings yes?

It would erase everything, but the error would still occur though. Reseat cpu? If that doesn't help, try a different cpu.

It would set it back to factory settings.

Hmm this message that you're getting, is it on the computer screen on through the audio? Are you getting anything on the screen? Even POST beeps?

Hmm this message that you're getting, is it on the computer screen on through the audio? Are you getting anything on the screen? Even POST beeps?

nothing on the screen, only throught the head phones, no post beeps....no beeps at all.

Yep, sounds like CPU. Your CPU could very well be fried.

Just tested both on the intel board, nothing is fried...yet While i was testing the 3.0 i almost fried the whole fvcking board

Do you have the 4 pin power connector, as well as the standard power connector...connected?

Also, some mobos require a fan plugged into the cpu fan header on the board.
