Every where you look including amdmb.com and our very own andantech.com, ASUS motherboards have been the worse of the crop.
Faulty capacitors buldge and bubble before the ASUS gets plugged in, IDE controllers that reboot the hard drives during boot-up, and faulty memory controllers that cause errors during POST. Rest assure these problems spread across more than just a small production patch, proven more so from the growing number of complaints.
I think Gigabyte and MSI made the more reliable Via A64 boards this year. Hopefully by next month, they all squash these bugs.
And I've used both the k8V and GA-KV8T800.
