I bought a Transformer last night, should arrive on Tuesday. If I like it, my iPad is destined for Ebay.

I picked one up @ BB last night too (it's still in stock as I post this). With RewardZone and other discounts it comes out to ~$399 shipped (after tax) so it's not like I paid extra.

Having used mine for a couple of weeks now, I still love it. My primary complaints are with Android and not with the hardware itself.

- Common Windows shortcut keys / key combos may or may not work. Ctrl+Z usually works, and Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V seem to work most of the time, but Ctrl+X, Ctrl+S, and Ctrl+A are a lot more spotty. It's a different OS (and one primary designed around touch input) so it's to be expected, but I love to see either Asus or Google step up to the plate with these to make Android an ever more viable switch for basic "netbook" tasks. Alt+Tab would be nice too - defaulting to the window-switcher application is a no-brainer (yes, I know there's a different shortcut button on the keyboard).

- The tap-to-click function of the touch pad doesn't always work. Actually clicking works every time, though. Two-finger scrolling works brilliantly.

- Android REALLY needs a simple window minimizing / closing system like the standard three buttons at the top right of every window in Windows. A standard "file" menu placement that all apps must adhere to (or at least, have to be specifically coded not to include, if they so choose) would be excellent as well.

- Saving a file that has been downloaded and transferring files from one place to another can be a major pain. Maybe I haven't found an option yet, but I'd really like to be able to specify where the file should be saved when I initiate a download.

Like I said, those are more software / Android complaints than they are TF101 complaints. Overall, I'm very impressed with the device, and I've started carrying it around as my day-to-day computer (due to the size, mainly) unless I absolutely need the power and flexibility of my notebook.

I had one for a while (3 weeks). It serves the reason for purchase but I do have the following complaints:
Not very many decent games yet (as a travel device; I like to play games or watch movies when stuck in an airport for 3 hours); this will change over time.
Pain in the ass to connect to linux box (andriod 3x system issue not specific to transformer;they couldn't just have it as a mounted device) to transfer files.
Funky usb 3.0 charging cable
No indicator when the unit is on or charging (at the very least a charging lcd/led woudl be nice)
-
These are mostly minor issues (the linux hook is probably my biggest gripe).
I guess I got lucky; my unit has no build issues (doesnt' creek; no sharp edges) or maybe my unit is the norm and only a few folks have issues.
-
Things I would like:
usb port (I did order a usb 3.0 to 3.0 gender converter; will try it when it arrives next week).
-
It serves my reason for purchase and now I need to dump the netbook. It is light; has long battery life and good for playing movies/web browsing/email.

Been playing with mine for 2 days and so far its been a PITA. Installed my 16gb card and it wiped it out then couldnt read it until i formatted on pc. Music app totally sucks. Apps likepower amp just dont work. Fcs on many apps.apps that do,work have issues like furdiburb which has the axis all screwed up. Im sure its an os issue so maybe an update will be outsoon. Also, why no yahoo messenger inthe market? Am hating the kb and my betterkeyboard that i paid for for my phone looks and works like ass on the transformer.

I bought a first gen Asus netbook, and regretted it mightily over the coming months when the 2nd gen stuff came out :(

I'm pretty happy with mine. Any compaints I do have are software and can be fixed with an update. If you go to the xda forums and read about this thing you'd think it kicked most of their dogs.

Btw if find the stock android keyboard much better than Asus one.

man i have none of the issues some of you have had, i have no issues with the default music app and only 1 app will FC on me, and its a wallpaper app everything else works fine, even many aps that aren't yet coded for a tablet

the keyboard with built in swipe isnt that great but if you turn that feature off it works fine. I fine all KBs with it laggy as hell IMO. using opera or dolphin browsing even content heavy sites isnt an issue, using moboplayer i only have 1 file so far that wont play. I know it has issues with high profile h.264 stuff but i haven't run into it yet, all my anime and TB shoes play fine, and many are 720p mkvs

Heh, I've got an ASUS eeePC 4GS sitting my drawer here :p. It's definitely quite lackluster compared to the current crop (or even stuff from 1-2 years ago).

You don't have to transfer but yes you can copy files; use file manager either hte stock one that came with the device or one of the many available from andriod store. The sd is under /removeable.
-
I play movies from the sd... and have tested a couple of pictures.
-
I presume you mean micro-sd that you can plug into the device; if not then not directly. You ahve to transfer the images to your pc or if you have a device that can export the images over dlna or similar.

--
Actually there is another way; some folks have said that if you use a usb 3.0 gender change you can connect a thumb driver (and I suspect equally well a usb->sd converter). I'll test this in a week or so; should a usb 3.0 gender changer by then. Also ASUS will be introducing a usb port via the connector in a bit; I think it is already available in europe and 3.1 is due in june and has better usb support.

Is there anyway to transfer pictures from an sd card to the device to be viewed through gallery?

Hmm that was weird.

Left my Transformer on standby like I always do. Come back later and push the power button and display doesn't turn on. Ok, maybe it crashed and turned off? Hold power button down, nothing. Do it several times, still nothing. Know my battery was at ~50% when I left it.

So plugged it in, still nothing. Fuck, now I'm thinking it has bricked itself somehow. Then I held down the power button again while it was plugged in, and it finally started up. Battery was still at ~50%.

Hope this isn't some indication of future more frequent problems, eventually leading to its death.

That happened to me once. I let it charge for several hours and it was mysteriously fine again.

That was about 2 days after I bought it, and it hasn't happened again since.

Yea i had the same thing happen the first night I had it, but it hasn't done it since. I've heard of it happening with the Xoom and Acer tablets too, so it's a Honeycomb thing.

This happens several times to me; the trick is to hold the power button in for 10 or 15 seconds (force restart). It has worked every time for me; though I had to do it twice once.

Anyone know if there is a way to change how the background wallpaper is displayed? i know on phones you can choose to let it be static or move as you change home screens.

I ask because every time i set a wallpaper i manually crop it to size in the gallery but it never displays the full image i select, which kind the look of some images. More of a HC setting issue then an issue with the pad

I do have one issue, for whatever reason the pad will NOT see my phone when i turn on wireless tether. never shows up, tried 2 different tethering aps on the phone and nada. Which is strange because everything else can see my phone just fine when i do it

not sure about the wallpaper, but if you do figure it out let me know!

for the tethering... did you try manually typing in the SSID to see if it works? I know that isn't quite what you are asking for, but it can be a workaround

I have no problems buying this now, and when the quad-core tabs come out that's of similar quality I'll sell my Transformer and buy that too.
