Further UPDATE on this project: As I started typing this, I was running one instance of Prime95's mixed torture test per core, testing the CPU's FSB capabilities at stock voltages. It failed to boot at a CPU multiplier of 6X (smallest available in this A8N32-SLI Deluxe's BIOS) & HT link of 2X when using a CPU FSB of 333MHz, even with the Async. Latency set to its highest setting, which is 11.0ns. At more normal Async. Latency numbers, it still failed all the way down to 315, so I'm sitting at 314. It's running the RAM -- all 4 gigs of it -- at 157MHz, 2.5-2-2-5 ! I keep thinking, now & again, that I might be a bit over my head when it comes to OCing & this motherboard. (By comparison, the Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI was VERY easy to OC with -- to the point where it failed, which was about 289MHz CPU FSB &/or about 211MHz DDR speed, all at stock voltages. 273MHz CPU FSB was perfectly dual-P95 stable for over 12 hours while running 4 gigs of DDR @ 3-3-3-8 183MHz or so DDR speed.)
It ran for over 1/2 hour, & stopped because I stopped it, & the CPU only hit 35 C. To compare, the readout for the SYSTEM temp was 34 C ! I guess one could conclude from this, assuming that the temperature readouts are correct, that my Big Typhoon with its 120mm fan is doing a near-perfect job of air-cooling this CPU.
My 2X1GB kit of 3-3-2-8 DDR500 Mushkin arrived yesterday. Here shortly, I'll be swapping my 2X 2X1GB kits of OCZ DDR400 out in favor of the Mushkin. It should be interesting to see what the CPU can do hooked up to them !
I've got a LOT of Vcore headroom left, as well as DDR voltage (after I put the Mushkin in) AND CPU temp. Should end up a more than satisfying OC attempt, overall, I'd say. More detailed (& spiffy) info. to come, no doubt.
Well, time for some Mushkin.
