If I only install the sata hard drive for windows first, will I be able to partion my 2nd hard drive thru windows, or will I need some kind of software to do that.

You shouldn't have any problems installing both SATA drives and then installing windows. After installing windows, you can just use the disk management utility in windows to format and partition the second SATA drive.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management

I had a problem in the past doing a clean Windows install with 2 hard drives (1 for system and 1 for data only). For some reason the setup installed some of the files on my data drive. When it came time to for Windows to restart it wouldn't. I don't know why this happened but from now on I only install the drives necessary to do the install. Of course if you're going to install Windows on a raid drive you'll need those drives.

Its built! I just finished playing some Rainbow Six Vegas :)

Thanks for the help 3NF.

I hope it remains stable, the build went flawless...The rig is the one in my sig.

I have done no overclocking yet.

Anyone needing a full tower case , I can highly recommend the CM Stacker STC-T01
and also spring for the crossflow fan that blows air all across the mobo :D

I need to do some tidy up work with some wires and such...over all I'm very happy.

Thanks again guys!

I used two 4pin connectors that go to the CPU power...was that right or should I have used just one?

One 4 pin connector had a cap on it and I took it off and plugged in the other 4 pin pwer connector.

WTF? Asus took the P5N32-e SLI off of their website. Now the only 680i mobo they have listed is the Striker...

That's correct. The newer motherboards have a 8-pin 12V connector. The power supply you purchased has 2 separate 4pin connectors, so that it would be backwards compatible with older motherboards that only have a 4pin connector.

Maybe they want you to buy the more expensive Striker :)

Not sure what the deal is there. The download section for the P5N32-E SLI still exists.

does anyone has this board in stock? thanks

i returned my EVGA after it fried one of my 8500 corsair Dominator sticks and then after shuting it down overnight and restarting in the morning it showed [-][-] post code "dead". not to mentioned several other issues all of this in less than week with all new hardware.

Did this board ever get reviewd? I cannot find a review.

What do people think of the separate sound card? Is it that much better than an on-the-moboard solution?

Thanks!

No idea who has it in stock. I'll be RMAing my board back to NewEgg tomorrow. I'm not sure if they will send me a replacement since they are out of stock, in which case, I believe they will just refund my money. So I'll either have to wait for it to come in stock, or get a different one all together.

The sound card worked fine for me, but was a little "crackely" at times.

Burned up, poof - smoke. :) I was tweaking some settings in the BIOS and after I rebooted I came to a blank screen with no POST. Next thing I know I smell this horrible smell in the room - plastic burning.

You can see a picture at the link below. In the center, you'll see a small black rectangle with a white circle on it. That's what burned up. The white stuff is essentially ash.

My eVGA 8800GTS card was in the blue slot above it, so the card was directly above the burnt spot at the time. At first, I thought the problem was the video card because when I took it out I could smell the problem there. I eventually found out that it wasn't the problem after testing video cards I know work.

Hey 3NF. Any news on your new board yet, or are they still out of stock.

Are you gonna stick to this board, or go another route?

Select the 'NVIDIA nForce® 680i SLI?' chipset and there's only the Striker but no P5N32-E SLI. For now I'm putting my money on a webmaster mistake.

Don't know at this point. I would think by now it would have been pointed out to them and they would have fixed it. It still is not listed and it has been over a week now.

My RMAed board is due to arrive back at NewEgg tomorrow, so I'm hoping to find out this week what will happen. I believe their policy is to refund your money if they don't have the product in stock.

If that happens, then I'm not so sure what I'll do. I thought about trying the eVGA board or I might go with an Intel P965 chipset board. Haven't really decided yet :)

So, what's up with the P5N32-E!? I've seen alot of different opinions all over the place. Some people says its great and work like a charm and on other places i see people having all these tiny problems. The problem is that there is absolutley no reviews on the board anywhere, all other boards have gotten atleast one review from what i know.

Asus seams to be saying nothing, and nobody else has released a motherboard in this price range yet... Are hardware developers having problems with the 680 chipset or what?

I just pre-ordered this board and i would be extremely upset if it doesn't work properly, i've bought alot of motherboards from Asus and i trust them to deliver without any problems like they always have for me.
