Considering getting it on PC, but does it really look that much better on a high-end PC than 360? I rented it on 360 and liked it, although it did become repetitive. I'm also afraid if I here that beggar "Please sir..." one more time I'll snap.

sorry to say it, but for me personally, "good" .. i can wait for bargain bin and maybe by then there will be mods, fixes and patches
- just like with STALKER .. i loved the Vanilla game and am looking forward to replaying it with all the good mods just before Clear Sky is out.
Can anyone post the control for it with 360 controller? I want to use control for pc and I don't know what was the defaultcontrol with like a 360 controller.
No, not worth it at all. It's a console port with horrible save system and useless lab scenes.
Lets see what I remember... The D-pad is weapon select, R trigger low/high mode or whatever, L stick is move, R stick is camera, thumb buttons are attack, jump, gentle push etc...
How the hell would you play this game without a keyboard/mouse. Controllers must suck ass for this game.

Exactly this is a 3rd person console game that fits perfect for the xbox controller.
However I like keyboard mouse setup with Gears of War since you actually have to aim with that game. A mouse is much better at aiming.

I still wish I could skip cutscenes. I played it once with them, but some of the cutscenes are so damn long!

Well, since I usually have to disagree with Ponti whenever he says games are bad, am I know obligated to disagree with him on Assassin's Creed?

no way in hell this the best game in the world. this is a game you rent and play it for few and then return it. Game is no where A++ .

* crappy ending (DEV didn't know how to end so they just confused you WTF ending)

* game is badly optimized that needs a much faster than crisis just to run it on low
This game got AMAZING previews... and got TANKED in reviews.

All the reviewers I see say it's the same thing over and over, 50%+ is spent running to and from missions, and there's no variety in assassinations. In short... it's a console game.

Just downloaded AC from Steam and here's my take. I played through about 1/2 of the game on Xbox 360 as a rental, and while it's not perfect, it's definitely worth your time. No way would I consider this a "bargain bin" title. It can get repetitive, but the level design, incremental weapon/skills improvements and atmosphere more than makes up for it. I may be biased since I'm interested in Crusades history and lit, but the historical aspects add a lot. I was amazing to see Jerusalem, Acre, Damascus etc. recreated at least to a small extent.
Pros
-Great graphics
-Outstanding atmosphere and music
-Great fight and climbing gameplay
-Runs very well on PC, seems to have been optimized (holy sh3t!); much less stuttering than 360. Even with my SLI disabled and one 8800 GTX (stock) I can run highest settings at 1920x1080.
-PC version is definitely prettier than 360: crisper textures, farther view distances, cleaner animation, more subtle blur effect. I haven't tried yet, but will force AA in nV Control Panel (there's no AA setting in the game).
-Original story (although they could have done without all the sci-fi nonsense... just doesn't seem to fit)
Cons
-Gets very repetitive after a couple hours. My suggestion would be to play it in shorter sittings rather than 4-6 hours at a time
-Keyboard/mouse controls are crap (see below)
-As mentioned above, the sci-fi aspects of the story were totally ridiculous and seemed out-of-place. I get the feeling the Ubisoft marketing dept. forced the writers to "make it different, make it XXtreme" at some point in early or mid-development. Would have been so much better if the story stayed within the Crusades period.
Being primarily a PC gamer, I tried to adapt to the keyboard/mouse layout, but just couldn't. Whereas the Xbox 360 controller made climbing/jumping easy, I found it utterly frustrating on PC. Luckily, I have the 360 wireless adapter for PC. Even still, the controls didn't map perfectly to the 360 controller and have to be adjusted in the game settings.
One other point: I found running SLI makes the audio stutter (just like in Portal, HL2). Enabling vsync totally solved this for me.
Edit: Agreed on the Mass Effect comment: I can't freaking wait for this game on PC even though I played it through on 360 already.. Although I'll still bemoan the decline of PC-developed games, if the trend of 360 games being optimized and improved (better graphics, interface, and content) for PC continues, it might not be that bad.

Anyone else find with this game that at resolutions of 1920x1200 and over it will not allow you to enable AA. And forcing it through nhancer or the nv control panel also does not make it work. AA works fine at any res below 1920x1200 and the game setting is available to select it, but at 1920x1200 and up the in game AA setting is grayed out.
Yep, that's what I'm seeing too. I haven't tried at below 1920x1080, but it's greyed out for me. Also, forcing AA doesn't seem to work. Uhg... another console port that doesn't have good AA settings.

I'm sorry to hear about the keyboard/mouse control issues. I have to confess, I've never even touched a console controller in my life, and wasn't planning on it. I've noticed more and more PC games have XBox 360 controller compatibility...I may have to break down and get one some day I guess.

Okay this shit is pissing me off, now. I love this game to death, I just want to play it!
It kills my display driver. It gets jumpy and then locks up, my game crashes to desktop, and then I get that "Display driver failed but has recovered" message. Then every time after that point where I try to play any game, the same shit happens. The ONLY game that can trigger it first is Assassins Creed, though, and it just started after installing it.
Every time I play this game, I have to reinstall the display driver and reboot after about 4 hours or so of playing, after that my driver install is hosed and requires a reinstall... TALK ABOUT ANNOYING!

No crash for me but there were some weird things going on while I was playing this game. It would every once in a while take me out of full screen jump to window mode. So I Alt-Enter to get me back to full screen.
I played it 8xAA 1440x900. About 40fps average.

Xbox should, Dunno about PS3 but A big selling point of xbox was how good games would look since it supported AA.
