WTF is citrix?

An "enhancement" of Terminal Services brought to you by Microsoft.

Citrix is a 3rd party company that has added onto that base platform with it's own protocol and numerous featurettes designed around speed, compatibility, isolation and security.

If your an IT professional, especially in a large infrastructure, chances are you already use Citrix, are planning on deploying it, or have already worked with it.

Where is the best place to get citrix specific admin templates for gpo's?

Brianmadden.com

But why not write your own? What do you want exactly? My most common one requested from me is my adobe acrobat reader.

how do i get the citrix presentation client that is compatible witwindows 98 if they have taken it off their website?

i dont see it there at oldversion.com. do you know if it is there and i am just not seeing it? did the old version have a differnt name like the newer version does?

that is a useful site though for the other stuff that is there

To be honest, you stumped me. Haven't ever had the pleasure of finding an ICA client for win98 machines, I much rather ponder if they even support/exist period.

So...you stumped me sir, I cannot help you. Sorry.

It's still available on the Citrix site. Client downloads are accessible to everyone. The last release for Windows 98 clients appears to be 9.246.

Just use "ica version 9" in your search.

no you didnt. if you actually click on that to download it you get the following message:
"This client supports
Windows XP, 2003, 2000, NT, ME, 98, 95

Due to the recently released Security Bulletin CTX116227 Citrix strongly recommends customers move to the latest Presentation Server clients version 10.200. In accordance with the Lifecycle Policy for Non-Sale Components, with the introduction of Presentation Server Client version 10.200, previous versions of the client including 9.246 are no longer being maintained or supported.
Download the Citrix Presentation Server Client version 10.200."

IN OTHER WORDS, THEY TOOK IT (THE WIN98 COMPATIBLE 9.246) OFF THEIR WEBSITE. MAYBE NEXT TIME YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE YOU POST.NO WONDER YOU ARE "NOTHINMAN"

Sorry about that. I didn't go any further than seeing the link to the 9.x client.

COUDL YOU GET THE 9.246 VERSION FROM CITRIX TECHSUPPORT AND EMAIL IT TO ME?

You would really need to do that yourself. I believe if you state why you need the client, you should avoid a charge for the call.

Sucks to be you then, how about you move to a system that is actually supported by someone?

I have a business unit that still has one Win98 PC because the software they use only works on that version. So maybe he has no choice in the matter to support an outdated OS.

Where I work we still have at least one Win98 machine that needed Citrix for our new ERP system. Fortunately I was able to dig around the file servers and find an old version that works great on Win98... off the top of my head I'm not sure what version it is though.

If you want, PM me your email address and I can email it to you.

I'm sure someone has a valid reason for why Win9X is still used on that box but that doesn't mean it should be supported. I'd do everything in my power to tell those people that they're on their own.

Not my customer support philosphy. I support as the IT the business. I point out the problems, issues, pros and cons, but after my advice, the business unit makes the decision and when they do, I support it fully.

Lines have to be drawn somewhere. If MS won't support it and Citrix won't support it, why should you support it?
