Citrix is a 3rd party company that has added onto that base platform with it's own protocol and numerous featurettes designed around speed, compatibility, isolation and security.

If your an IT professional, especially in a large infrastructure, chances are you already use Citrix, are planning on deploying it, or have already worked with it.

To be honest, you stumped me. Haven't ever had the pleasure of finding an ICA client for win98 machines, I much rather ponder if they even support/exist period.

It's still available on the Citrix site. Client downloads are accessible to everyone. The last release for Windows 98 clients appears to be 9.246.

Just use "ica version 9" in your search.

You would really need to do that yourself. I believe if you state why you need the client, you should avoid a charge for the call.

Where I work we still have at least one Win98 machine that needed Citrix for our new ERP system. Fortunately I was able to dig around the file servers and find an old version that works great on Win98... off the top of my head I'm not sure what version it is though.

I have a business unit that still has one Win98 PC because the software they use only works on that version. So maybe he has no choice in the matter to support an outdated OS.

I'm sure someone has a valid reason for why Win9X is still used on that box but that doesn't mean it should be supported. I'd do everything in my power to tell those people that they're on their own.

Not my customer support philosphy. I support as the IT the business. I point out the problems, issues, pros and cons, but after my advice, the business unit makes the decision and when they do, I support it fully.
