You are literally me with a meaningless undergrad degree (I was marketing and mgmt double major).

I had to pivot to go to IT.

At what age did you move to US? Trying to see how American you are.

How come I never see Japanese-American women out in public? I see them at the sushi place but that's it. Do you hide the women away? Even at the Asian grocery store, no Japanese women.

Might have to make the pivot also, dad suggested I go to code camp/the like.

What should I do if I need to make the pivot?

Also 4 1/2 so I'm pretty American (do prefer Japanese food over American food)

You probably think they're Chinese

Also there's only a handful of places that have pockets of decently large Japanese populations, you might not live in one of them.

Marketing is dumb overall, should have gone with accounting or something useful. I went with Computer Information Systems (MIS in other schools). Basically bridges the gap between IT retarded business folks, and the business-retarded IT folks.

Had a discussion with the GF about this, she's in agreement with me. Do you find it offensive that you seem to never see anyone but Japanese-looking people working at grocery store Sushi prep stations? And like, hardly ever anywhere else? I've never seen a Japanese-looking person bagging groceries, prepping deli meats, stocking shelves. Nope, just making Sushi, like that's all they know how to do/are expected to do. We almost never see anyone *but* a Japanese-looking person prepping Sushi either, like there's some kind of union mandate or something.

Q: did your parents ever mention The Emperor, teach you about man's natural condition of servitude, or casually shout "Tennoheika Banzai"?

Also tell us about your Katana, both real and figurative.

I mean I wouldn't call it dumb, but the field is all about experience and results (none of which are fully possible as student), and most entry level jobs are straight sales (quota based)

I guess this major is dumb.

Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass because grocery store sushi is garbage and anyone buying that should know what they're getting. I've seen mostly hispanics and asian people working as the sushi prep station and we all know that this (asians working "asian" jobs) is to give off the illusion that it's good/made by a "professional". It's more like playing on the stereotype and might (probably is) considered racist but hey, it's whatever.

Finding REAL sushi here (NC) is hard since most properly trained sushi chefs decide to move to big citys to open fancy ass stores but there are some okay ones. Recently, there's been a huge wave of "sushi" aka a bunch of rolls with americanized flavors built into them, hitting the streets (not shitting on them, I like it too) which I guess is fine but I'm unsure since it might be a good place to introduce someone to "sushi".

The word sushi itself's been kinda bastardized, kinda like tacos (if you haven't had a real taco, I don't wanna talk to you)
What's the deal with Tentacles?
Honestly I have no idea but my speculation points towards the fascination with mysterious creatures mixed with anime characters that are super "sexy"

I fully endorse your opinions of Sushi, Tacos, and American Bastardization/stereotyping, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I don't even care what language it's in.

I actually read (watched?) a thing about that. It was a Manga artist back in like, the 60s or something that wanted to do pr0n, but wasn't permitted to show actual stuff, so he came up with a sexualized proxy for it (tentacles). Kinda took hold from there and has persisted ever since. They interviewed the guy on the show, he had no idea it'd become so iconic.

So what I hear you saying is that the sushi with the Valveeta and bacon filling might not be traditional?
Honestly, if you're willing to eat raw fish prepped in a Piggly Wiggly, you deserve what you get. I'll take the Velveeta Bacon rolls.

No, I honestly know close to 0 about Japanese history. Whenever my family went to Japan for the summer, they did put me into Japanese school and when I was back at the states, I did attend Japanese school (saturday school, had language arts and math)

My Katana ;) you'll just have to ask my girlfriend. I don't own a katana nor does my mom or dad.

Japanese men are weird (people are weird in general, I mean, think of all the fetishes that exist)
Is it true what they say about "Kancho"? Does the practice actually exist? Kancho!

There is actually a kancho statue somewhere iirc and it's more a kids thing, kinda like credit carding or punching someone in the nuts

Sorry to burst your bubble.

In all seriousness, as a former college student, I went to those "BOGO sushi roll" places (where a roll is like 8-12 bucks so it's already kinda accounting for the loss from making it BOGO) and I loved it because 1) real sushi is expensive since raw fish is expensive (especially fresh af raw fish) 2) it tasted good 3) it was cheap. I see the appeal in the fushi (yes, I just made it up, fake sushi) and I do enjoy it from time to time.
