Honestly, if you're willing to eat raw fish prepped in a Piggly Wiggly, you deserve what you get. I'll take the Velveeta Bacon rolls.
Wegmans has good sushi. Most of it isn't traditional, but it's put together with care and quality, made fresh every day. The one near me has a Japanese woman, a black guy, and a couple others I didn't take particular notice of making it. I get it for breakfast every 2-3 weeks when I shop there, and it's usually the highlight of my week.

Q: How fluent are you with Nippongo? ;)
Conversational level, reading and writing aren't amazing so around a middle school level.
Do you kill and eat dolphin?
No but I'd love to try it. Dolphin and whale are on the to eat list.
What do you think of Yasuko Matsuyuki ?
Hint : Fullmetal Alchemist (2017).
Sorry, I don't watch anime. I've only seen Initial D (which is good)
no one answers my questions I want a refund.
Sorry, I was getting lunch and just got home.
Do you have a small man unit?
I'm above the worldwide average if that helps.
So, was it kinda awkward when they taught you about World War II in US history class?
I honestly don't remember being taught WW2. My last name is Yamamoto so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why do you use 'an' before the word Japanese?
Could you put this into context?

Heard from somewhere (can't remember where), that half-Japanese people that settle down and live in Japan aren't always fully accepted by native Japanese people (in the sense that "you will never be one of us" despite being half Japanese). I don't know if you spent a considerable time living in Japan, but have you ever come across certain attitudes like that when visiting Japan?

Our wegman's does too, which I appreciate. Doesn't mean I'm eating sushi from Tops, though :)

Real question time: Japan is unlike any culture I've ever seen. I've been to Tokyo, Kyoto,Nara, and Osaka... Hands down the most unique culture. I've never seen people be so... civilized... humble... and not pieces of shit like they are here in the states and other parts of the world. I love the "tipping is an insult" culture too.

So with that said, with all the high-work culture - how the hell do you still have the unique culture of anime characters all over EVERYTHING? And why is your taste in porn so nuts? Is it because in the normal porn it's blurred so the only workaround is fantasy tentacles that aren't censored?

Japanese people keep to themselves. No one will talk smack to you or really care about what others do while they're out in public. In private, people do hold opinions and what not. The thought that half Japanese people aren't accepted probably lives in the previous generation (think "get off my lawn" generation, aka old people), most people now (so under 35) are accepting of others, regardless of their ethnic background.

Ultimately it's like the US, different people have different opinions.

It's a huge hobby in Japan (I presume) so that's why it's able to live on. Comic books (essentially the book version of animes) are widely popular since there's so much down time riding the trains and people usually read or send text messages. Also I think it's because the anime characters are widely known, similar to popular actors/actresses. Porn thing, I legit have no idea, but there was a post on the first page about where it originated from.

Two questions, both serious:

1) What's the deal with Anime? I've tried to get into it, but it's so absurd to me. I can't wrap my head around it.
2) Square/Enix completely ruined the Final Fantasy franchise which was arguably the best ever (FF6 is the best video game ever made). Why haven't the people of Japan risen up and brought these criminals to justice?

1) Anime is equivalent to american cartoons
2) That I cannot answer, then again Japanese people have grown to become super duper passive because WW2

Isn't it based off the comic book series IIRC?

Most of my friends aren't fans of live action versions of books

Yes, but it is enjoyable.
Personally i like science fiction and fantasy anime only. Like Alucard and The guyver.
All the other kind of anime, i tried but i cannot get into it.
With the exception of some 30 year old cartoons showed in the west but made by Japanese studios.
And i especially do not like the pseudo erotic kind of anime and the drama queen anime series.

I've had some terrible sushi. Giant had some I thought looked reasonable. They're a slightly upscale grocery chain. No Wegmans, but better than something like Safeway. If you had told me it came out of a vending machine, I wouldn't have been surprised. I'm no sushi snob either. You've gotta work to offend me, but they managed :^S

This does exist because I grew up doing it in Korea in 80s. It's just an innocent fun among kids- like giving a wet willy.

Of course it's completely inappropriate today.

Oops, sorry for taking away the spotlight @T_Yamamoto. I'll stfu now.
its fine, I never partook in the act nor do I remember it being a thing but honestly I could have forgotten it.

Always interesting to see how/where/when asian cultures/norms intersect.

1. What do Japanese eat day after day- surely you don't always eat restaurant food that we know of (sushi, tempura, teriyaki). WTF did you eat for lunch & dinner in last 7 days?

2. What are your thoughts on Japanese government's past atrocities and unlike Germany how they try to hide it instead of fully embracing it? (Rape of Nanking, human vivisections, omitted in textbooks, etc) When did you learn of this? Have you had a conversation about this with your parents - what are their thoughts?

3. You like anime?

4. Have you faced racism?

5. You tasted some other meat other than Asian?

1) We don't eat Japanese food every day, it can be anything from meatloaf (tonight's dinner) to spaghetti to tonkatsu, so it ranges. Most meals (dinner) is accompanied by rice and miso soup. I can't remember what I've eaten the last week but I can list out some things I've had (lunch+dinner, strictly things my mom/dad have made: gyoza, somen (thin white noodles), soba, beef umami spaghetti, chili (these are all I can remember). I know like 4 days ago we got pizza from Papa John's.

Lunch, I make my own so usually leftovers or whatever concoction I create on my own or instant ramen (shin ramen is A1)

2) Past is the past but we should learn from our mistakes. I don't know what's taught in schools. I learned some of it while in school (in america) but don't remember much. I have no had a conversation with my parents about it since I can read about it online.

3) I don't watch anime, I've only seen Initial D.

4) Yes but not recently. I live in the south (NC) but in predominantly diverse area.

I wrote a lot more but 5pm rolled around and it lost like half the shit I wrote so here I am, rewriting some of it.

Also 5) like if I've dated/slept outside my race? Current gf is white so yes.

Is Gundam as big in Japan as Star Wars is in the US? Does a character like Char Aznable have the kind of recognition as Darth Vader does?

I wouldn't know the magnitude of impact but they do have a giant gundam

It's not the anime that is famous but rather for building the models (building scale models of anything is quite popular)
