Wow, just cancel the show. Sheen isn't exactly a great actor, but this role was pretty much him playing himself. Noone can replace sheen in this role. He was the only reason this show was funny to begin with. Just let it die.

This has fail written all over it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. They need to let it die already and start a new IP.

Isn't it the most popular sitcom out there right now?

That is the problem, they know the show is super popular, and will try to squeeze every last drop of $$ out of it. Even the 1st episode with Kutcher will be a goldmine with everyone tuning in to see what it's about.

I think it will fail quickly after that though.

Ashton Kutcher continues to do these limp romantic comedies that have killed his career as a serious actor. His last failed attempt at a tv actor was Punk'd that finally died off. His role in that 70's show was amusing as the dumb guy. I guess it's only fitting to have him kill off 2 1/2 men which will run for 3 mos and be cancelled.

I bet he's crying all the way to the bank rolling out 3 romantic comedies a year.

Who knows, maybe he will shock us? I thought Heath ledger as Batman's nemesis was a horrible call. I thought the gay dude from Brokeback mountain? And a whole bunch of forgetable supporting roles?

But as a side note, probably not, I have yet to like Ashton in anything...

Oh what will I ever do w/o Charlie.

What will the world be w/o 2.5 men??!?! I mean, this is the worst news since they replaced Mr Roper with Bart on 3's Company!!!!!

For the price they paid Charlie, they could get a half dozen beautiful women to replace him and hire the same number of better scriptwriters to pretend all those women have something important to say that you would actually give a crap about.

CS is not indispensable.

To 2.5 men he is. Any other show/movie and I would agree. Nobody is going to watch this. He wouldn't have been makin $2 million/episode if they thought he was replaceable...

The thing is, it is a fallacy to think that 2.5 men is really worth all that. It is not the best, it is the most widely tolerated sit-com out there.

It was blah from day one with the same jokes over and over and it was only a matter of time before it died of "natural" causes anyway.

So bemoaning the loss of a limited actor with ego problems is a win-win for the network in that, if they succeed they make money. If they fail, then they have a person to blame.

The thing about the $2M/ep is only because it had more people leaving it on in the background while they did other important things like surf the net for pr0n... :p That over-inflated number convinced more advertisers that this was the perfect show to pimp Metamucil, Trojan Condoms and Turtle Wax.

Never cared for the show, so this might actually be a positive change. I can't possibly watch it any less than I already do.

Hmmm, random stab at it:

Charlie dies, Alan thinks he gets everything but it turns out Charlie has a bastard son he told no one about that he left everything to.

Moves in and continues Charlie's lifestyle?

I would bet against them killing off Charlie. In fact, it would be ridiculous. They must leave the door open on Charlie returning in a story arc. If down the road he does come back, that would be double digit ratings.

Charlie gets a letter saying that Ashton is his son and is coming to see him.

He bolts.

Stupid plot point, but feasible enough for prime time.

meh, just say he faked his death, totally in line with his character. Hollywood writers can get away with anything

Rose kidnaps Charlie and keeps him in her underground lair. Alan knows about it, but won't say a word because he's always been jealous of Charlie and he now has full control over Charlie's beach house. Charlie's royalty checks still come in, and Alan forges his name on them.

Ashton is the long lost brother that Alan and Charlie never knew about; the product of one of Evelyn's many marriages.

Winner winner Sheen dinner!

This is going to blow. I don't care who they stick in there, it's not going to work.

I am curious to see if or how they write Sheen out of the show if they address it at all in the script.

The first episode will get huge ratings. It would be cool to see his character scheming on Demi Moore in a guest starring role. I can just hear Alan saying the odds are stacked against them to have a relationship.

It would be funnier if Demi's character goes for Alan or better yet go for Jake instead.
