bye bye "patritot" act....

The patriot act may get revised, but it isn't going away no matter who is appointed attorney general.

You seriously think that's getting renewed? I thought it had totally lost support after so many blatant abuses of it. Once again though, I said the same thing about Bush's presidency...

Just curious, what would the Attorney General do about a law? I would think the Congress/Supreme Court would deal with the removal of it.

I must be missing something.

Nope. You are exactly right. halik is the one that is "missing something".
The patriot act may be revised by the legislature or may have parts of it ruled unconstituional by the supreme court. The attorney general, even if he wanted to, can't just decide he doesn't like it anymore.

It only lost support among liberals and democrats. With an even larger Republican majority in the house and senate, and Bush in the white house, I don't think there is a chance in hell of it going away. There probably is a very good chance that parts of it will be rewritten though. Many Republicans that support the spirit of the patriot act, also agree that it needs changes and safeguards against abuse.

I would hope if the Congress did nothing about it, maybe the Supreme Court would.

If he had said that a week ago, we'd be looking at a new president....

Thank the pagan lords!

He was really the only reason I didn't want to give a vote for Bush. He's one of the single biggest destroyers of personal freedoms the US has seen in years.

So long sucko.
