contempt (is what you meant?)for huge pieces of the population, sounds like youre describing Conservatives to a t. Hating on educated liberals, minorities, etc...

I get this from my parents when anything comes up and I remind them of things like the very services they depend upon came from caring democrats who crafted legislation that protected them. Recently I had to sit down and rethink many things and after reflecting on them I had pick a side so went back to the Democratic party. I don't support everything they do but staying on the outside wasn't going to work in this climate.

My problem is that I can explain something to them and they'll say that they understand but a short time later they act like nobody told them anything about it. I suppose this is the scapegoat they've always hid behind so they're comfortable there.
