Fury X2 needs to just be scrapped. Polaris will be here soon enough.

In the AMA, AMD mentioned Gemini was built it only for VR applications. It's in boutique "VR Ready" builds and in industrial use. And it only makes sense as a niche product.

Launching it in the consumer space, even last year would be a mistake, there's no market for these dual-GPU cards. NV even skipped it entirely.

this information been revealed before?

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/amd-takes-83-share-global-130000974.html

2. The next-gen Polaris architecture-based GPU Engineering Sample delivers up to 2X performance per watt compared to GeForce GTX 950. Testing conducted by AMD Performance Labs as of December 2015 with an Intel Core i7 4790K at 80% power limit with 4x4GB DDR3 memory at 1600Mhz and 120GB SSD. Tested systems used off-the shelf power meters that measured system power consumption at the plug. PC manufacturers may vary configuration yielding different results. Star Wars™ Battlefront™ was tested on the X-wing Training Map using FRAPs. The Polaris architecture-based engineering sample on Med Preset @1080p scored 60 fps and consumed 86W with driver 15.30 beta. The GTX 950 card on Med Preset @1080p scored 60 fps and consumed 140W with driver 358.87. POL-1

looks like AMD will run the SteamVR benchmark through Polaris as well today

Showcasing next-generation VR-optimized GPU hardware - AMD today demonstrated for the first time ever the company's forthcoming Polaris 10 GPU running Valve's Aperture Science Robot Repair demo powered by the HTC Vive Pre. The sample GPU features the recently announced Polaris GPU architecture designed for 14nm FinFET, optimized for DirectX® 12 and VR, and boasts significant architectural improvements over previous AMD architectures including HDR monitor support, industry-leading performance-per-watt2, and AMD's 4th generation Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture.

curious what it will score versus current gen GPUs

Why was the 4790K power limited?

We already have GTX950 cards under 75 watts.

Why is AMD using Intel chips to test their video cards?

To focus on gpu power numbers? I don't know. If I remember right, though, vsync was on for the test so the perf/w results aren't really valid. All you can really say is that Polaris can hold 60 FPS at those settings using about half the energy of Maxwell. However, that doesn't mean Polaris has 2x the performance per watt as we don't know how much performance either card could achieve if vsync was off.

Note: if I'm remembering wrong and vsync was off for this comparison, ignore this post.

It's 86W for the system, not only the GPU. It would make P10 at around 35W.

Sure, but we have lower power GTX950 cards now.

What would the numbers have been like with the newer GTX950?

Also, the regular GTX950 is only 90W anyway.

This has happened for a long while now are you seriously acting like it's new news that amd cpus aren't great and that amd uses Intel cpus in these tests?

Vsync was on. 60fps is percieved to be smooth gaming. This demo was more for the mobile/laptop market most likely. Pretty much a given the way the demo was configured/done. Pretty sure AMD made some statement about delivering console like gaming experiences on small, ultra-thin mobile devices.

The GTX 950 is a whimpy card to the PC elitest gamers....Comparing the GTX 950 to current laptop dGPU's it's somewhat beastly.

They always do, even their technical marketing staff owns Skylake now.

Missed opportunity as a sales person when asked if he had plans to switch to Zen once it was out.

Q: "You switching to Zen when it's out to add more team Red to your rig?"
A: "Absolutely! Can't deny we dropped the ball with Bulldozer, but Zen is a whole new beast and Intel better be ready!"

Wouldn't a response to that question possibly be grounds for termination? Other than a response of we'll see or time will tell, etc.

Why? He's not disclosing any performance metrics. If anything just showing he supports his company's decisions/products.

My employer is pushing me to over-sell our company to clients/patients.

EDIT: Oh, the Bulldozer line? Well, I thought it would come off as humble. But sporting an Intel processor is more damning with no response if you ask me (look how it's been parade around.)

ZEN performance or lack of is most likely off limits as far as comment go.

How could he answer without being somewhat the start of some rumours?

Your employer is pushing you to sell what? Currently available products? Future products with unkown performance/features?

Do they need a new JeffAMD situation?

I'm sure he could have.

A: "Absolutely! I'm really excited for Zen."

Of course, it might just be completely of limits. It was stated as such in the AMA rules.
