🙁 I loved the show, but it was difficult to bring in new viewers because of the crazy storyline and in-jokes. Whenever I tried to introduce people, they'd say wtf is this show?
🙁

I think they know a bit more about running a TV network than we do. I hate it when great shows get cancelled too. RIP Sports Night. 🙁

It had its momemts but it was not for everyones taste.
I was pretty heartbroken when I found out Portia de Rossi was gay in real life!

I hate Fox programming and scheduling people as much as anyone. They were directly responsible for Family Guy and Futurama failing due to mobile time slots and football pre-emptions. In this case though, they're not to blame. They stuck with Arrested Development for 2 and 1/2 seasons despite ratings that warrented cancellation early in season one. It wasn't a case of taking a successful show and sinking it by trying a new time slot. AD failed in one slot, so it was tried on a different time and night. It failed there too and was moved again and failed in yet another slot. Fox did everything they could to save the show. The ratings just flat out sucked no matter when or where it was broadcast.

Too bad, I thought the show was hilarious. I can understand why it failed though. The deadpan delivery and no laugh track made it impossible for people with no sense of humor to know when to laugh.

I agree. Great show but it was a different type of show compared to what is out there. People don't like change.

Literally one of the best shows on television. Maybe the best show that fox has ever had. They should have cancelled family guy again way before touching A.D. At least AD has a plot, a story line, great acting and it doesnt just jump all over the place with flash backs fishing for a few cheap laughs.

btw .. i have never missed an episode of either show.

GODDAMMIT FOX! YOU SUCK!

Kitchen Confidential was pretty good too.

Arrested Development was a GREAT show. I'm going to pick up the DVD sets.

Although, in typical Fox fashion, it was virtually impossible to keep track of its air time. If it weren't for my DVR, I would have no idea when to catch it during the week.

Same for my brother and I. FOX is stupid (but we knew that.) These days, there are a lot of people who just download episodes and buy DVD releases. Now, if FOX would move into the 21st century, they'd offer downloads of their shows, and then they'd see what their true viewership is.

Well, add another show to the list....

'Kitchen Confidential' was pretty good too. They just killed any chance it had for success by putting it on on Monday against CBS's lineup.

adios! I only watched that show twice, and didnt like it... I never understood why people thought it was funny. I found it lame.

The reason you didnt like it was because you only watched it twice.

Seriously you people that didn't like the show because you only watched it a couple times, or didnt start watching it until recently didnt give it a chance. It is a show that must be watched for a while or from early on to understand what is going on.

To say the show was lame because you watched it twice is like saying a movie was lame because you watched the middle ten minutes of it.

Right, because people didn't like the show they must be lacking in humor. :disgust:

Then again, my humor opinion around here isn't very highly regarded because I couldn't stand Seinfeld either.

ok.. So I should watch every show on tv from episode 1 to whatever they are at now to decide if I like it or not.

Sorry I don't have that kind of time. I find it funny that you guys are insulted by my opinion on a tv show.

I watch like 4 or 5 shows. Gotta use the DVR for something I guess

I wasn't a huge Arrested Development fan but I can understand why some fans were passionate about it. There were some great dead-pan lines in that show.

But for shows like Arrested Development, I've never understood why more networks don't take some of their borderline shows that don't have mass/network appeal and push them down to their cable networks. All the major networks own major cable networks/stations now that they can basically use as their 'minor league' system.

NBC has USA
Fox has FX
ABC has TNT
CBS has ?? (I know they were heavily-aligned with Viacom)

That way current shows could still stay in production. But just take them down a notch to where they might get better traction. I realize the ad revenue and production budget takes a hit, but some shows might be able to survive the budget downsizing without losing too much talent/quality. There's some really high-quality shows on cable these days. Nip/Tuck. The 4400. The Dead Zone. Etc. Then if a show builds a big audience as a blockbuster cable hit, they can always try bringing it back up to the 'big leagues' of network TV.

No they wouldn't, the people who download them now aren't going to want to pay to do the same. Meh, so the downloaders killed a show they liked to watch... way to go.

Heh, like the "minor leagues" of TV.
