I'm not sure about Arnold being the best. If so that doesn't bode well for the rest of the states.

The problem with tuition going up is students who are here on loans and such can't deal with it easily. Supposed you are, you'll probably have a part time job like I do to help pay for rent and board and whatnot. It gets to the point where you really need to hold onto that job in order to live because loan money isn't enough. Rental prices are going up, tuition's going up, what are you to do if you don't have rich parents to help you out? And at a public school no less...

You can say what you want, but being a student going to the University of California, I know many students here on these campuses would give the governer an F simply because of all the cutbacks and tuition increases we've had to endure since he became governer. Don't get me wrong, anyone's better than Gray Davis, but education is really hurting here.

Arnold good: Pushing for the reworking of how districts are drawn to prevent gerrymandering.
Arnold bad: Pushing to spend billions of California money on embryonic stem cell research when the state is already in a budget crunch.
Things like the first example make me want to root for the Governator but the second example is infuriating. But, at least you get some good with him.

The second is more a calculated risk than just throwing money away ... hope it turns out for the better!

Wow you really know nothing, but you have proved that not only with that statement but the others you make daily.
Schwarzenegger is very liberal on a LOT of issues. Heck look who he is married to.

Some of us base our opinions of individuals based on their actions, not their political label. It does require more thinking, but I think it produces better results.

Boo frickin' hooo.
The UC system has tuition rates below the national avg for state schools. Hell third tier state schools in Texas have higher tutition than any of the UC schools. Education in Cali isnt hurting, its people dont want to pay a higher tution rate, which is still lower than almost all other states.
Yes, that's what the teacher unions would like you to believe (smaller classes = more teachers = more union members = more union money = more union power). Funny how there's been over three decades of reducing class sizes yet the quality of education has gone downhill....Originally posted by: dolph
we had to fire 7 teachers at my elem school next year bc student to teacher ratios were increased from 20-1 to 30-1. (lower student to teacher ratio is the singularly most effective way of increasing test scores and grades)
Yep, it was cheaper for me to be an out-of-state student at the University of Alabama than it was for me to pay in-state tuition in Texas.Originally posted by: digitalsm
