I know the republicans and Bush are completely inept and worthless on the issue of actually securing the border. However my point was if they did actually did fight these guys and push them back into Mexico, the Left in this country would be up in arms at how we could do such a thing.

I disagree with that. I think there are plenty of people on both sides of the aisle that recognize that our borders are a problem.

Now if you were talking about gunning down illegal immigrants then you would be more likely right. But this is drug smuggling militia men from mexico we are talking about, no one wants that in our country. I agree with you though that securing the border is a mess that no one can solve, right or left.

I am scared to yet again find myself in agreement with you (it's been happening quite a lot lately though ). What we need is to close our borders shut. If people want to come here to work for below minimum wage, and we can't do without them, then create a legal way to do it.

Now personally, I am totally against the concept of "illegal drugs". If it was up to me, I'd legalize everything under the sun. But obviously until someone tames the christian right into doing this absolutely obviously correct thing, we need to limit the extent of criminal empires that have been created as a result of these stupid bans... and one way to do it is to close the borders.

There was a survey released a few months ago that showed that most legal Hispanic citizens opposed illegal immigration, providing drivers license to illegals, etc. so perhaps they could work on it without angering the Hispanic population.

I saw if any other countries military decides they wanna come to our soil armed to the teeth and not following the laws, to hell with em. Meet em at the border with everything we have. Why not accept volunteers? It has been done in the past when it comes to mexico. Oh well if they get shot or burned. Should've stayed on your side of the fence.
