there are only four left, including Dave, and he mentions/compares Ferguson and "intentions". he also says that a lot of people left their guns, lol.

Probably a good idea, much less likely to get shot by the numerous FBI agents and other LEO that are waiting for you down the road.

These douche bags are nothing more than a bunch of misguided pussies searching for some meaning in their dull, uneventful lives. All the fake bravado they derive from their guns just melts away under the threat that someone actually trained to use one might point one back.

the guy who died had cancer so pretty sure he was the only crazy ready to go out like that. Probably thought his death would make all white people rise up against the evil gubment.

He probably assumed that silent majority of racist white patriots that we keep hearing about will finally come out of the woods and take America back from all these off-white people. There must be some truth to this, because surely Republicans wouldn't keep staking each election cycle on this silent majority finally making it to the polls if it didn't really exist...right?

Wonder if his life insurance policy has an "armed insurrection" clause.

Here's an article up on Oregon Live about the history of the charge that Bundy and the other face:

The 154-year-old law under which Ammon Bundy and others were arrested this week was created to deal with a nation torn apart by war. But it made sense for the armed occupiers who holed up at Oregon's Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to be charged under the Civil-War era statute, experts say, because like the Confederates, the occupiers rejected federal power.
Interesting bit of history regarding the charge... quite suitable for the individuals involved.

ETA: FBI press conference in Harney County at 5:30 PM PST...

UPDATE (4:14 p.m.) The FBI has announced it will hold a press conference at 5:30 p,m. at the Harney County Chamber of Commerce on to address the current on-going situation at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. This announcement comes moments after a flurry of action at the refuge.

Nah, you can believe in anything you want; just don't be a violent asshole about it.

There are things to believe in that lead inevitably to people being violent assholes at some level or another because people get their heads in binds they can't get out of. It leads to compartmentalization, denial, & huge cognitive dissonance. A lot of people have trouble changing their minds in the face of new evidence because they believe in things they didn't go to the trouble to evaluate properly in the first place. It just made 'em feel good at the time, slipped right through a blind spot directly into their belief system. As it builds, they just believe in being angry & negative, about everything.

Witness Trump, fer Crissakes.

Good article in the LA Times about the charge that the government is hitting the Bundy militia with...

... That federal criminal statute doesn't see much use, and it's not one of the Justice Department's big guns: Its maximum penalty is only six years. To prosecutors, the virtue of such conspiracy charges are their flexibility: The government need prove only that two or more of the defendants agreed to prevent some federal employee from discharging his or her duty by force, intimidation or threat. Prosecutors don't have to prove they were successful.

It used to be hard to prove what defendants agreed to do: You had to infer it from their actions, or find a snitch to repeat their conversations, or wiretap them. But this is 2016, and we arrange our affairs in the open. The government's 31-page affidavit in support of the complaint against the eight occupiers is chock-full of their own words: statements in press interviews, statements in videos posted to YouTube, statements in widely distributed emails. It's enough to make a defense attorney weep.
Bundy can thank Pete Santelli for nicely documenting the evidence for the prosecutors...lol!

The other occupants of the truck chose to ignore orders to surrender. Every second they delayed was another second Finicum bled out. It took ten minutes for law enforcement to secure the site in order to be able to attempt to treat Finicum due to the conduct of the other criminals. Way to go brothers in arms. This bullshit is what felony murder laws were written for.

So he initially raised his hands but then it looks like he went for something on his left side under his coat. The cop that behind him pretty much had to shoot him at that point because all he could see was that he wasn't keeping his hands in the air and instead reaching into his coat near his waist, nor was he staying still. He also damned near pegged that cop as he went off road.

I'm glad no cops were injured.

ETA: At the 13:15+ mark you can see a few red dots trained on Lavoy's head as the drone circles. They were looking for a twitch...

open/shut

given the guy's immediate history of hostility, reaching in his shirt/jacket like that after that series of events was a death wish.

He definitely reached in/towards his pocket at least twice (report was that he had a handgun in there).

Seems justified to me.

Yeah. There's no audio, but I'm pretty sure the agents (or police) were yelling instructions to him that didn't include "NOW REACH FOR YOUR POCKETS".

The video won't matter to the faithful. They will say he was shot too soon. Or he was being told to disarm and was complying.

All I see is a man who vowed to go out guns blazing reaching into his coat when confronted. See no issue with the response.

It might not have even been a gub'mint man that shot him...

Well, yeh, but even the local police was under the effects of Obama's secret gayification gas originally tested during Jade Helm. It's synthesized right in their cop radios.

Or LaVoy was just trying to offer them a tictac, take your pick.

Maybe the video has layers like Obama's birth certificate. Or the whole video is a fake, an elaborate ruse created after the fact to hide Obama's complicity with the lizard people who did the actual shooting.
