just when you thought the GOP might make a comeback, they do all in their power to alienate the fastest growing minority group (along with all the other minority groups) in the country. Bring on 2012 lol.

GOP: if it aint white, it aint alrite

Or is it that the GOP is taking a stand on principle in defiance of political convenience, while the Dems exploit the minority groups' frustration and doubt for their own gain, damn the consequences.

Given the last Decade, I think the correct answer is: ROFL

I'm not sure what you're not understanding here. This law will have the affect that ALL PEOPLE, not just aliens, will have to have their papers on them or face possible detention and arrest.

You obviously havent read the bill. Im not going to argue with you, unless you care to point out in the bill that says this. Its been pointed out numerous times what Im saying is 100% truth. But, if you want to believe the emotional media, I support that right ;)

You obviously don't know much about this bill. You seem to think if you're legal you won't have to show papers. That's ridiculous. I'll just say "I'm a citizen" and they'll be all like "never mind then"....LOL.

/sigh youre a slow one, or you didnt read the thread.

Most people carry ID of some sort all the time. For the ones that dont, it takes 5 mins to verify citizenship. For those that cant be identified, depending on the situation, they can be held for further investigation. But then, so could a citizen. If youre a white guy driving with no ID, you WILL be hauled into jail until such time as to your ID can be verified. Its the same everywhere for that.

But back to the point. This bill doesnt require everyone to carry "papers". Only aliens. Which, in case you missed it, is already FEDERAL law. So youre dead wrong in your statement as to what the bill says and requires.

i have no idea where you are from, whether in the US or not, but if you get pulled over, you give them your id if you are asked. i have had many interactions w/ police that haven't asked for my id. you have this crazy idea that somehow AZ is some police state when what this law does is what fed law has been doing and local leo has been doing for years.

guess since the crazy left thinks they have a decent viewership they can exploit it in time for the 2010 elections and think this AZ situation will somehow overshadow the lefts forced healthcare and presidents and many on the left's incredible failure since they have had power. had this not been a election year, i doubt anybody would have even heard of the law.

Officer, the name is spidey
Live at 123 evergreen terrace
This vehicle is registered to that address

On my merry way but with a ticket for not having drivers license on me. That would make sure there is absolutely no reasonable suspicion that I'm an illegal alien.

ENFORCING A LAW THAT MIGHT HURT THE LIB VOTING BASE? We can't be having that.

In college, I sat in jail for a night (I guess that's how long it took for them to figure this out) because I wanted to be a douche and not tell the cop who I was. Im white and male :( Those guys must have been nazi's!

The point is that a) the Feds have been inactive on this issue for a LOOOOOOOONG time, someone forced them to deal with it. Need a tissue or just to be held? b) They are making it so that the law is ENFORCEABLE and making sure it IS enforced.

I fail to see the problem? BTW, they aren't "undocumented workers" they are "illegal (aka CRIMINAL) aliens".

But now the stops will have the dual-purpose of catching drunks and getting rid of a bunch of non-white people.

only in your crazy fucked up world. AZ is not fully white - lots if american indians and hispanics, thus the police is also made up of white, black, asian, hispanic, etc. again, you people are trying to make this about race but it isn't. but this is typical left grandstanding on lies and mis-truths. why don't you look at AZ demographics...

That's what I've been saying. Citizen or legal aliens can be held until they can show their papers like the truck driver.

Whatever color you are and whether you're driving, walking, or a passenger there is the possibility that you will be hauled into jail.

Not if you have a Birth certificate, driver's license, SS#, military ID, passport, etc. If you have zero ID, and never have had zero ID, then you probably arent here legally.

If only there was a system in place to prove who you are... something with a photo on it and was hard to counterfeit.. from a government agency that could look things up with numbers that were associated to you... if only.

What if it's at home at the time. You think it's Reasonable to have to prove your Citizenship just because the Cop wants to know?

Hypothetical
Jim Bob is almost late for Work and is in a hurry walking down the street. Cop thinks he looks suspicious and confronts JB. Asks JB for ID, but JB left his ID at home. So now what? JB has to Prove he's a Citizen and possibly get Fired doing so?

It's not like Cops just won't make shit up or anything. They'd never do that, right?

Out of those the only one I ever carry around is a driver's license, which does not establish citizenship. I don't take it with me everywhere I go either. Also my 13yr old never carries any type of ID.

Since a driver's license or state ID does not prove citizenship I'll have to assume you're advocating some sort of new national ID that you would force every man, woman, child, and baby to carry on their person at all times. Seems just a little ridiculous.

It's already been covered in this thread. A drivers license is good enough because you can't get one if you in the country illegally in most states and absolutely the case in AZ.

Did you tell me I didnt read the thread? Ive participated heavily, troll. It doesnt matter where you are, the fact is, ALL LEO have access to Dept of Licensing records from their car. Which include pictures that are associated with said ID/License. And here in AZ, an ID or license will establish that you are here legally. In any case, we will now require what the feds do - if youre an alien, carry your green card.

Youre a fuckin troll man.

You only need one of the follow which will be asked if you are stopped by a police officer during a lawful stop.

1. A VALID ARIZONA DRIVER LICENSE.
2. A VALID ARIZONA NONOPERATING IDENTIFICATION LICENSE.
3. A VALID TRIBAL ENROLLMENT CARD OR OTHER FORM OF TRIBAL IDENTIFICATION.

http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070h.pdf

Arizona will not grant any of these if you are a illegal alien.

Invoking mass hysteria seems to be the only method liberals can use to argue down common sense.

Why is that little detail absent from most of the media reports about the law? I would venture to guess that the US Laws and particularly the AZ is are not the harshest things in the world.
Because the mainstream media is overwhelmingly progressive and progressives recognize only one evil country - America. Other nations can only be evil specifically when supporting America or in response to oppression from America. Therefore other countries are irrelevant. Also, the mainstream media is engaged in pushing the progressive viewpoint, so virtually all stories are framed with that in mind. (As the New York Times says, "All the news that fits we print.") Since the progressive goal is to fundamentally and completely transform America in every way possible, any law that threatens to slow down the destruction of America as currently constituted must be framed in as negative a light as possible.

Youre right. I was reading on commondreams site a commentary from one of their...contributers about this bill. It started by saying this new law REQUIRES that LEO validate either citizenship or alien status on every contact...which is false. And it went from there. The hysteria over this is unbelievable.

If you call someone giving up your freedoms having backbone sure. I guess that's pretty ballsy. Don't step out of your house without your papers.

What freedoms have I lost? This law is almost a copy of existing Federal law? What part of that are you incapable of understanding?
