When is the last time they tested the water in Az? Especially at Jan's house. I didn't know Forest Gump had so many relatives in the AZ government. I didn't even know Jan's fathers name was Gump. ANd was brother to John's mother. NOW it all makes sense...

The Future

Controversial President X Y Z
Hater: OMG, X Y Z is Foreign Born!!!
State where X Y Z was Born: We got his BC right here.
Hater: You're in cahoots...Forgery!
Arizona: We've seen the Documents and can verify their Authenticity
Hater: You're in cahoots too!...forgery!!

This Law does nothing.

Do the birthers realize that there are more qualifications than just being a natural born citizen of the US to be eligible for office of the POTUS?

This is covert racism.

There's nothing covert about it. Especially when it's public record that the white Senator from Arizona who lost the bid for the Presidency in 2008 was not born within the United States.

I guess you're right. Racists rarely ever acknowledge that they are racist. Good point on McCain too. He was born on a military base somewhere in Central America, but he gets a free pass because he's white.

Are you actually denying that the birth certificate hasn't already been provided?

Where did I say that it wasn't.

The Constitution outlines the requirement to be President of the United States.

Arizona is a state and wants to make sure that anyone who is running fits that criteria.

Again, not really sure what the problem is with a state making sure their electoral votes follow those rules.

First of all, a military base is american soil.
Secondly, there were people on the left who did question his eligibility.
Thirdly, this legislation would apply to EVERYONE not only Obama.

Leave no doubt so this never becomes an issue again. Problem solved.
Yet another thing the federal government should be enforcing but isn't.

Who here said there was a problem with a state following those rules?

When was there doubt before? How exactly was this an issue? What specific example can you provide of the fed govt not enforcing this provision of the Constitution?

It hurts him because it makes his citizenship an issue that needs special addressing, when it hasn't been for ANY other candidate in any other presidential election. The objective of the birthers isn't to actually disqualify him, it's to make Obama go to special effort to prove his American credentials, while it's just assumed for every other president and presidential candidate.

It doesn't matter if his opponent ends up doing it too...that will get absolutely no attention. If Obama is forced to prove himself through some BS verification procedure that was created in response to his 2008 election, his opponents are half-way to where they want to be.

Basically, it doesn't matter if his ends up being proved right...it's that he had to specially prove it at all, when nobody else up to this point has had to. And as long as Obama's opponents can keep saying "Obama" and "non-citizen" in the same sentence over and over, it doesn't matter whether he ends up being vindicated or not.

I still don't see how the birther movement actually hurts Obama's presidency. It actually makes it much easier for him to dismiss his critics as idiots. If Obama himself didn't think they were a useful sideshow he would have produced his birth certificate very early in the process. There is only one person with the power to make the birthers go away, but the corollary is crystal clear once you see it: there is only one person who ever had the power to create the birther movement in the first place.

Don't worry about Obama's feelings or the potential for his "embarrassment" in all of this. He is a shrewd politician. By doing exactly what was required of him in the election process and nothing more, he caused a large contingent of his critics to marginalize themselves into a movement that made them repulsive to the center. Any Presidential candidate would give his largest donor to have such a gift. It's only gravy that he has the exclusive power to disperse this fringe movement at will.

I don't know who is sillier: the birthers or the people who think that Obama is actually hurt by them politically...

Um. Not really sure what the big deal is. I am pretty sure that requirement is in the constitution and if the federal election commission isn't going to check why not AZ?

Its not like this only applies to Obama. It applies to EVERYONE going forward.

Why not remove any question from future elections about eligibility?

Agreed. Its sad when people get up in arms and angry when asked to follow the law. Certain public offices require specific requirements be meant, there's nothing wrong with laws requiring that those requirements be meant and made public.

Same with the immigration bill, enforcing immigration laws is a good thing.

If Obama ever visits Arizona he better carry his ID with him just in case one of Sheriff Joes Storm Troopers decides to check to see if he's here in the country legally

Secondly, there were people on the left who did question his eligibility.

Bullshit.....show me a real poll where 20-30% of the country said that McCain wasn't a citizen. I am sure there might be one or two people but not many. Certainly not like Obama.

On the other hand, 1 year AFTER Obama's inauguration, 20-30% of the country STILL think he wasn't born in the US.

Again, intellectual dishonesty is you forte, it seems. You again willingly ignore facts because of your blind partisanship.
