Do you know who Jordan Rudess is? Don't judge by this one video.

EDIT: I watched both videos. They are both great, but the first in particular, the guy is great no doubt, but take a look around and watch some of jordan's acoustic piano vids. he's just on a totally different level.

I don't know jack about playing the kb / piano, but while I listen to classical on occasion when in the mood, Dream Theater is much more approachable for me and in a minority of rock bands with a keyboardist.

I don't know about best pianist/keyboardist alive, but his knowledge and ability to play such a diverse international collection of music on the keyboard is probably unmatched (perhaps on any instrument.)

When I think of best ever tho, I'm going to gauge it based on musical construction, interpretation, and skillfulness playing. He certainly has the skillfulness and ability to 'reconstruct' but I don't know enough about him to guage his interpretation abilities as well as compositional abilities writing new music.

He doesn't play as much classical as he used to, since now he is on a (and has been for quite some time) synthesizer kick. His last few solo cd's, dream theater cd's, and his "night with jordan and john (petrucci) cd are pretty damn good, compositionally.

There are alot of musicians who might play music that I like better, I'm just saying, on a technical proficiency level, he's arguably the best.
