Seriously, though, $2500 for a single x-ray taken in the ER does seem a bit high.

Agreed. I just looked at a Blue Cross/Blue Shield site which cites that the average cost of a Chest X-Ray performed in a hospital is $179.

Phew, one of the reasons I love Finland. Cost for X-ray (or MRI, CAtscan,etc) is about... yeah 0,-!!!

That's the result of this stupid insurance system, where we pay thousands of dollars per year so that we don't have to pay $50 checkup bills. It's outrageous, and corrupt. What's so distasteful about paying a smaller fee for "calamity" insurance, that only covers huge things?
