I'm reading this thread, and the first thing that popped into my head was "pathetic". You're both materialistic whores.

Dude, they are 16, things aren't supposed to be HORRIBLY deep at that point. They are a lot deeper than most kids that age to keep up a relationship for two years, over that distance. So saying he/they are pathetic is rediculous. And frankly, I doubt you would be here if not for a computer you have somewhere, so materialistic is pushing it coming from ANYONE on this forum.

Owning an appliance is being materialistic? What does that have to do with the need to give his girlfriend presents to make her happy?

Dude, just let it go. Admit it, your girlfriend would be pissed if you didn't get her anything for a two year anniversary. Just let it fvcking go.

NO one is ready for their first serious relationship, but its a step everyone has to get through in life.

Back off.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Over the past two years, I've spent ~$200 on her. I'm just cheap.

My advice to the OP, and you'll have to adapt this to your life, is to buy her an expensive bottle of wine and take her on a romantic drive out into the country and have a picnic. Maybe sparkling cider in the park, it will be so cute!

Meh, It just seems he isn't mature enough yet. ;)

**EDIT**
I am just sick of the YAGT posts all the time about really trivial matters in relationships. Because 90% of those posts are about stupid things that just show how young and immature the person is.

"How do I talk to girls?" like they're lepers or something. No big deal just talk to them

"Man, my girlfriend is so annoying sometimes." Blah, blah, blah. That is a relationship, dude. Is she worth your time? If yes, deal with it.

"Girlfriends are expensive and high maintainence." And this is news how?

"Wahhhh... why can't I get a girlfriend?" Get some cajones and talk to them instead of steaming in the corner.

And finally, the coup de grace. "<I am an attention whore> Look at the pretty girl who likes me which I know I shouldn't post her picture, but because I want to look good in front of my internet friends, Should I go out with her?"

That's what I was thinking.

Except purchase gift certificates to locations around your area. When she comes to visit you both have someplace to go.

Certificate choices:

Ice Cream Shop
Artsy-Crafty Place
Movies
Bowling
Miniature Golf

I've done this a couple of times and was praised each time for the thoughtfulness of the gifts.

Best thing is you get to share in the redemption. :)

Good Luck and congrats on the anniversary.
