:roll: I'd rather not assume, but in any case the question was out of curiosity as much as anything.
Well, I've been on bases in the desert where the roads were built elevated above the surrounding terrain. Why? Because occasionally it does rain, and then you have a muddy impassable mess if your road is at or below grade. In any case there are other objects in the picture that cast much clearer shadows that indicate that these are craters and not mounds.
So how does one get a job at a place like this? Honestly, how do you get "in" enough with the government to work there?

It seems that google has pulled some of the higher resolution stuff for this location. When I tried to recreate the images of Mercury NV above to show Nik some more shadows, I get the message

Dreamland is another codeword for the base at Area 51.
I wonder if they still has the Janet flights into the base daily with the workers?
Another bit on the craters vs. mounds question. Note the smooth area in the middle - that is sediment washed into the craters. You can see the erosion on the sides. In fact, you can see a shadow from the erosion ditch on the right side of the center crater at the bottom.
Dave, with your obsession for government conspiracies and such, I wouldn't tell you what I did either....even if all I did was work in the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Area51 itself is/was hardly worth any interest. Sure, it's secret but that's only because there's a lot of classified research going on. Big deal, that type of stuff goes around all the country. Most of it is uninteresting, tax wasting dollars. You can actually go to the border of Area51 and take photos, etc. Just don't cross the lines, else highly trained Wackenhut security guards may apprehend you then turn you over to the county sheriff for tresspassing.
The real interest is Papoose lake, located adjacent to the other side of a mountain range separating Area51. Here it is where Bob Lazar states an underground facility holds UFO's, and even the highly screened Area51 employees could not access Papoose. That is the real mystery. There's no way to get even near Papoose lake, except through Area51. Though there was a news incident some time ago about some hiker who actually made it onto Papoose, then was apprehended. Not sure what happened after that.

yeah that guy, if you read about his history, he's a crackpot. He claims that he got hired into a supersecret program in something like 2 weeks with no prior experience in defense. Sorry, but 2 weeks barely even clears a background check for an unclassified military program.
Also, apparently he was bankrupt before he started his claimed work on this program. Sorry, but the aerospace industry doesn't really hire people with questionable financial backgrounds, too much chance that the person can be bought out by other groups.
