Are your working hours flexible?

My hours are WAY flexible. I rock up normally after 9AM, whereas most jobs in Australia require you to be there 8.45 sharp. I take two hour lunch breaks nearly every day. And then finish about 7pm.

Sometimes I log on from home and do maybe 3-4 hours of work (usually sunday nights (like today)), normally doing a bit of work, then playing some SC/listening music, etc.

Tomorrow (monday) I'm gonna go in late at 11am, just cause I feel like it. But its not like my job is TOTALLY awesome, I already did extra work on Sunday, so my work is just very flexible with its hours.

The reason I think it is, is because I normally work late hours and hence my company culture is relaxed - the focus is finishing your tasks, not clocking in 8.45 - 5. Like there are days where I've stayed back to midnights etc.

I prefer flexible hours (mixing in a bit of work on Sunday night, etc.)

So are your hours flexible? And if so, do you work long hours (which I assume is the reason why your hours are flexible)? Do you like the flexibility? Are the hours more flexible in the new "information era", where we can always remote desktop into work, as opposed to the old days where we have to physically be at our desks?

Yeah, but you're the President. Some of us have to work for a living.

Student here..Attendance is optional but I tend to not skip classes because that makes it more difficult to pass exams.. So I'm at school from 9am to 4pm 3-5 days a week..

My job requires 8am to 5pm with a 1 hour lunch break. But if I want to work more, they are very flexible. :\

pretty flexible.

when I started this position, my boss told me which days he needed me on staff but my hours were more or less up to me.

generally speaking, I work 8:30 am - 6:30 pm. if I'm going to be altering them significantly (like, say, coming in at noon because I've got a doctor's appointment or something) I just email my boss to give him a heads up.

All the jobs I've ever had were very structured and didnt allow me to work when I felt like it.
Been out of work over two years now and I hate it. Even worse is when I go out to school or out to run some errands and I see all kinds of people who clearly dont work at all (even when the economy is good) or who get to take off whenever they feel like it. Am amazed that with this shitty economy so many people can get by. Obviously I made all the wrong decisions in life. I should have somehow figured out the way to fuck off and make money. I'd probably be less stressed.

Noticed the same thing before the economy went to shit though. Back when I lived in Oregon I worked night shift at a factory. When I'd sacrifice some sleep to go out during the day and get shit done, I was astounded at all the folks who just didnt work. My job was the only place in town that had people working nights, so all the folks I saw at the mall had to be either unemployed, growing and selling drugs from their houses (which is totally believable in Oregon) or ridiculously wealthy and just didnt dress like it. Also pisses me off that 30 years after the womens liberation so many of them are back to being gold digging leeches. Especially in a supposedly "progressive" state like Oregon. TONS of useless housewives living up there. They take the kids to a day care and then fuck off at the mall for 8 hours.

100% flexible. I work when the boss tells me to. If that means 9-5, okay (actually 7-4). If that means this weekend, forget your plans, okay. If it means 16 hour shifts until the job is done, okay.

I can work whenever I want, as long as the job gets done and I attend any scheduled meeting.

Kinda-sorta, Can start at any time between 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM but it is expected
for you to work 9 straight, with 1/2 hour for lunch.
Alternate Fridays are 8 hour short day, or an 'Off' Friday for a 3 day weekend.

are you sure? some of us work weekends, night shifts, etc :)

I love going to the store in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday when it's just me and retired people shopping.

Not flexible at all. We're badly short staffed right now. Three people quit in the last two weeks. So basically every store in my region is down a man. The company is extremely slow at rehiring. It's why I work such a bizarre week (Friday to Tuesday) between two different offices. 10.5 hr days for three days, 8th and 4th on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

This.

I usually choose to get in at 7:00 and head out by 3:30 or 4:00 on a normal day. I really like getting home early.

My hours aren't flexible in the least. 7-7 with rotating days to nights. But I love my job so it's worth it.

I work in a lab so it's very flexible. My job is 9am to 5pm but I can come in whenever I want as long as I get in an 8h day.

Not flexible at all and they change drastically with little notice. Chance of rain on Friday and instead of starting at 6:30a we started at 4:30a. Equipment break down half way thru shift and what should have been a 10hr day becomes a 16hr day. Plenty of times it's been work until you can't work anymore, go catch a few hours in your truck, then get back to it. I make decent enough money so it's worth it.

well kinda....

My schedule is 8:30-5:30. If its slow, they will let us go home early. But I have to be logged in at 8:30 and not a minute earlier and no later than 8:35.

Call centers suck like that. Literally every minute of what I do is scheduled and monitored.

Pretty flexible I mostly come in about 11-12 after I get done with school, though if something is broken and someone calls me then I usually need to come in ASAP. Im only part time though, I do 25-30hrs a week.

Kind of, I guess. We're required to be there from 9am-3pm, other than that they don't care how you get your 8 hours in. Almost everyone does something like 7:30am-4pm, though.

Depends.
If we have classes that day, not flexible.
If we aren't teaching, very flexible.

I teach (7-9th grade), so 25 hours/week are not flexible, the rest are.

Pretty flexable now that I have a credit card. I don't have to go to the bank to get money any more.
